+Engadget discovers feature that has been in +Inbox by Gmail since launch, announces it as new feature several months late.
No, you don't need to reply to that email immediately in the middle of dinner. Now Google's trying to help that happen, with Snooze. A new addition to it

“A one year-old just died. Paramedics were called but he was gone by the time they got there,” the resident spoke softly, obviously affected by the news. “What happened?” I asked. She told me that the child had been seen in the ER two days earlier, was diagnosed with measles and sent home. My heart sank. I had sent home a one year-old child with measles two days earlier. Was this the same child? It was. He had looked so good two days ea...

"Non-Newtonian fluid" is a really stupid way of saying "starch and water".

Doesn't matter how big Uranus is. The important question is, does Uranus have rings and how many can you have before you need to see a doctor.

I just encountered the Windows 10 SmartScreen notice for the first time and got angry. Don't tell me what to do, Windows.

Then I realized that 99% of the people who see this might be helped by avoiding starting some malicious executable and I got less mad.

Then I realized most of those people are my customers and their willy-nilly clicking keeps me in business and I was a little less unmad.

I like train travel because it combines the ability to serve alcohol with the time to catch a good buzz.

For people only a little bit worried about threats to life and property.

The first (and last) time an amber alert went off at three AM, it made me want to go sit outside the house of whoever came up with that with an air horn. I guess I'm supposed to keep an eye out in case the perp comes through my bedroom.

Now I don't receive them at all. What purpose did that serve?

I don't understand why +Ting insists on only offering Fedex shipping for SIM cards with the cheapest option being $4 for ten-day when USPS could easily ship a SIM card for less than half that in less time.

USPS doesn't ship things for half that; it just charges you half that up front and takes the rest out of your paycheck directly as taxes. They're filthy cheaters.

Why I buy +Corsair (other than their high quality products).

Because some of their forum users are whiny bozos? It's a fucking logo. It's not even a BAD logo, it's just different. This is probably the same crowd bitching that the D&D 5E PH has too many pictures of women and brown people in it.

I like the old logo better too, but I don't click on the logo to blow shit up.

Best Chinese food in town by a long shot. Fast, friendly delivery. Friendly wait staff.

The food here doesn't taste like it comes from a chain restaurant. The pan fried oysters are perfect. Lightly breaded, crispy edges, with meat that melts in your mouth. It's a perfect snack with a beer while waiting for the ferry. Service is excellent, if sometimes I bit slow in the bar. They could use an extra bartender during certain hours.

You ever go to a nice burger place and the thick cut fries are soggy, limp, and almost seem steamed? Not here. The fries at Hop Jack's are the best I've ever had in a restaurant. There's a perfect, crisp, seasoned-to-perfection crust. When you bite into the fry you get a light, fluffy center. The french dip was very flavorful where I find most are made with bland, generic tasting meat. It was served on a hearty, stiff bread that was perfect for dipping. Whoever brews their beer line is great. The Hop Jack's Wheat is awesome. All the servers are extremely friendly. I work across the street from this place and it's going to make me fat and poor very fast if I can't keep myself away at lunch time.

This was one of my favorite spots for the first few months after opening. It's completely tanked since then. A lot of the great little local snacks (like calamari) have been removed from the menu and replaced with things like completely dried out grilled chicken skewers. All of the new menu items I've tried have completely fallen flat in quality. It's also always painfully slow to pay here. I've almost missed a ferry before because I waited longer than it took me to eat my meal for the waitress to bring me my bill and run my card.

A lot of southerners complain that you can't find good BBQ in Washington. Those southerners haven't been here. It's easy to find brisket in WA. It's next to impossible to find properly cooked brisket. Brisket being the pinnacle of difficult BBQ especially when you have to serve it on demand instead of whenever it's done, I ordered the brisket. It was the one and only time I've ever enjoyed brisket in a restaurant.

The salsa bar is unequaled. Their hot salsa is the best I've ever had. I could sit here and just eat chips and salsa all day but their dishes are amazing too. If you want a beer and a snack this is a great place to go for drinks with chips and salsa.
