For the life of me I don't understand why we need a new bridge and chorus before we can sing a hymn. #getoffmylawn

Posit: The Weather Channel is to weather as Fox News is to news. Discuss.

The Weather Channel in particular seems to have decided that the best way for it to make a way forward is to combine the worst elements of reality tv and 24 hour news. Looking at stories like this (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/hurricane-sandy-weather-channel-ratings-boost-401901) it seems like their decision to sensationalize the weather is driven by their historical profitability from massive storms. And thus we have them naming winter storms,  loading up on reality programming and doing anything they can to sell hysteria in the weather. Seriously, go to Weather.com ... right now the top 4 headlines are "One-Third of the World INFECTED", "Would You Ride This?" (Roller Coaster Video), "Could a Named Storm HIT This Week?" and "ALERT: Severe Weather Not Over"

This isn't to say that they're unique in this, but I guess I'm just a bit too much of an NPR and NOAA guy to really appreciate the sensationalism.

Bill Kinnon does a good job of voicing the frustrations he (and I, and others) are feeling.

We get those down here, too.  When I first saw it, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.  When describing it to friends, I couldn't think of what to call it so I called it a hummingbird moth.  They didn't believe me.  But wikipedia came through for me.  Crazy mash-up of creatures.

Sad to see two organizations for which I have had great respect mishandle this situation (in my opinion) so badly.

I'm not sure about the arrests. I believe there is still a good possibility that there will be a criminal case - there's no statute of limitations on felonies.
