Java should allow subclasses to make their inherited protected fields final. Then fields wouldn't have to be redundantly defined in both a Builder and the immutable built object -- they'd just be inherited from an abstract parent of both. After all, an architectural drawing is the same kind of drawing whether the house has been built or not, and software doesn't mind living in a blueprint.

Why do they call USB a "bus" when it doesn't have to stop to pick up and drop off data along its route? Why not use the term "bus" for token ring networks, since they're the one kind of data transport layer that drives like a bus route?

When will I find someone who'll hold a reference to me, so that I don't get garbage-collected?

"Be there and be square" would be a better slogan for Minecon.

I warned them, for future reference, that they'd undercharged me by $4.50 through a typo. Not only did they not thank me for bringing it to their attention, but the next time I ordered, they said they wouldn't serve me unless I repaid them for their error. Rudest food servers I've ever had.

DON'T try to solo a large Classic Poutine if you're new to poutine! That much gravy in one sitting is an acquired taste. DO order a breakfast combo (available all day!). MasterCard accepted. Trent students get a discount ONLY during the school year.
