This angers me immensely. When a state blatantly is anti-government agency, wants to secede from the rest of the country, whose governor when running for the GOP presidential nomination, swore to "rebuild" the EPA, aka defund it until it shrivels and dies, who failed to report to DHS it had enough explosives to bomb every major city in America, gets our tax-payer money to rebuild. They should do it themselves. Period.

Obama Dispatches FEMA To Aid In West, Texas Relief

President Obama officially declared the explosion-decimated town of West, Texas an emergency yesterday, releasing federal aid and authorizing the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA to head up disaster relief efforts in McLennan County. Obama and the First Lady also announced yesterday their plans to attend the memorial service being held at Baylor University Thursday for the victims of the fire and explosion.

President Declares Emergency for Texas

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to Texas to supplement state and local response efforts due to the emergency conditions resulting from explosions beginning on April 17, 2013, and continuing.

The President's action authorizes the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to coordinate all disaster relief efforts which have the purpose of alleviating the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local population, and to provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures, authorized under Title V of the Stafford Act, to save lives and to protect property and public health and safety, and to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe in McLennan County.

Specifically, FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize, and provide at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency.  Emergency protective measures, including direct federal assistance, will be provided at 75 percent federal funding.

Kevin L. Hannes has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area.

O.o so the people in this community shouldn't get the help that anyone else would because some anti government deuches signed a petition and some other politicians are anti America? What about all the true patriots that live there that were effected? We should throw them all under the same bus?
+Artie Richard Perhaps if those lame Politicians cause their state to lose Federal funds the voters would decide to get rid of the Aholes.
I live in NYC but I love Texas. I go at least once a year and I love the people there. They take a little getting used to and they are very different from the rest of the country but all in all I gotta say they're good people. The whole secession thing was really blown way out of proportion. Those petitions started on college campuses and were little more than a joke. Some of the people that signed knew it was a joke, some didn't. Either way it wasn't really serious. As for the politicians out there, well all politicians are deuche bags in my eyes so yeah, no argument there. All I know is the people in West need help and I'll never advocate withholding it under any circumstance.
