An Earth-like planet? Our Kepler spacecraft discovered first Earth-size planet in the habitable zone of another star! The artist's concept depicts Kepler-186f , the first validated Earth-size planet to orbit a distant star in the habitable zone—a range of distance from a star where liquid water might pool on the planet's surface. The discovery of Kepler-186f confirms that Earth-size planets exist in the habitable zones of other stars and signals a significant step closer to finding a world similar to Earth. this is a LONG article, but an extremely well-written one just the same, by +Mathew Honan with +WIRED Magazine! READ IT NAO!
here's a snippet: Like many people in San Francisco, Sasha Robinson is working on a startup out of his home. His living room is a riot of wires, battery packs, pliers, and metal casings. If I didn’t know better, I’d think he was a bomb maker. But these are just the raw materials for a new gadget he’s creating. It’s something revolutionary, he thinks, and he should know. In the 2000s, Robinson ran software development at industrial design firm Moto, where he oversaw new product development for the Flip HD camcorder. Before that he was at Juniper Systems and Silicon Graphics, two of the Valley’s foundational tech firms. His cofounder, Mark Williams, has also bounced around Valley software firms, but his main experience was at Apple, where he managed a Mac OS design team. read on at the linked article below.

The Milky Way’s central region glows above the 3.58-meter New Technology Telescope (NTT) at ESO's La Silla Observatory, sitting at 7900 feet (2400 meters) above sea level on the outskirts of the Chilean Atacama Desert.

Bragging rights
I had the immense opportunity & privilege of living in Europe for nearly a year from Summer 2001 to Spring 2002! Spent most of my time living & working in the Zurich area of Switzerland, but also spent about a month living in downtown Hamburg, Germany. I miss Europe immensely & dream of the day I might be able to return! I now have 2 totally cute daughters who daily try my patience, a wife that always takes care of me, & a great job here in LA to be thankful for. Also, if anyone needs a computer fixed, tuned, recovered, etc, I'm your guy! :)

Absolutely amazing place! It's a little English/Irish themed pub that doubles as both a bar, & then as a club later in the evenings on weekends. I'm an American guy & I was an aupair here in the Zurich area for a while. I spent many a night here with groups of friends when I lived in the Zurich area. If you are looking for a place that's a good mix of both locals, aupairs, exchange students, english/irish folks, and generally a melting pot of lots of nationalities, with a great mix of music, with the typical high Swiss prices, look no further! It's free, but it does get packed! No particular type of dress style rejected, unless that's changed since I was there in 2002. There's very much a "everyone's welcome" type of attitude here & you will find all ages. They play all the latest hits & move successfully across many music genre's. One favorite I was surprised to hear in the beginning, when I first started going there, was a techno version of "Country Road, Take Me Home". Just blew my mind, but the locals ate it up! Don't even remember how many times I visited this place, but it was basically the de-facto stop whenever we were in Zurich on Friday & Sautrday nite! It's a short walk straight down from the Hauptbahnhof, down Bahnhofstrasse & then left on Beatengasse. Plan to stop in around 10pm if you are going on a Friday or Saturday night, when the chairs are removed & it turns clubbish. Otherwise, it's your typical Irish pub of an evening, with folks crowding in on Tuesdays for the football (soccer) matches! Absolute MUST-VISIT!!

I lived in the Baden area for around 7 months back in the fall of 2001 through the spring of 2002, and myself and the rest of the group I spent time with, made a habit of getting together every Tuesday night to have a couple drinks, play Foosball, watch the local expats watch football, and watch some ourselves. It was always an overwhelmingly enjoyable time. There was always a good lively bunch of people and now, living back in the US, I honestly miss it terribly! I did visit a couple of the other locations in the chain, but the Baden pub will always hold a very dear place in my heart! HIGHLY recommend it to all who visit the area!
