WordPress Developer. Bible Teacher. Navigator. New Media Guy. Translator.
Techno Geek Aficionado for Web Savvy Marketing where I keep the technical side of things running for our rapidly growing WordPress development company.

My areas of responsibility include advanced website coding, overall coding quality assurance; theme audits; server setup, migrations and maintenance; training staff in best practices; managing customer support forums; creating marketing and training content; and other technical aspects required to keep a company moving forward.

Prior to joining the Web Savvy team I have been a life long professional navigator starting with ocean going cargo ships, then went on to US Navy jets. After changing careers from cargo operations in the maritime industry in 2007 I focused on creating easy to use WordPress websites and training folks, especially churches and ministries, how to use them to effectively attract more people.

In 2011 my wife and I moved to Colorado to attend a Bible college. Purposely Different is where I post thoughts and ideas on spiritual stuff. Upon graduation in 2013 I added "licensed minister" to my repertoire.

What to Expect

Here on G+ I tend to post a mix of content including

  • WordPress info to help your online effectiveness
  • Spiritual thoughts from a Biblical perspective
  • Fun stuff that I find entertaining

  • Charis Bible College
Biblical Studies, Practical Ministry, 2011 - present
  • SUNY Maritime College
    Marine Transportation, 1985 - 1989

Ok. File this one under pet peeves. It really bugs me when someone shoots me a message, lists a bunch of facts and then adds "Thoughts?" at the end.

Really?! You want my thoughts on what you just did? 'Cause my Vulcan literal mind wants to go off in ALL sorts of different non-helpful directions when I see that. The very fact that I have to reign in my natural sarcastic bent because you were too lazy to communicate what you really want from me only adds to my annoyance at having to guess what info you are hoping to receive.

Who started this crazy lazy communication trend anyways?

If you want my help then please (please!!) ask me an actual question that you would like me to answer. Otherwise there's a chance that I may lose control some day and tell you what I really do think. I'm just saying.

The moon was normal by the time I got up this morning. As much as I would have loved to see the eclipse, sleep was more important to me last night.

I know the sun cooks my office. But only in the direct sunlight is it 89.1 F / 31.7 C. Time to pull the blinds!

i often think that if buildings could deploy outdoor white sheeting we could massive reduce the amount of energy spent on air conditioning.

If we could stop large areas of concrete from storing heat from direct sunlight during the day we would be at an advantage.

This is a fascinating video on the nocebo effect. Science has shown that people can get sick from simply believing something makes them sick, even when there is really absolutely no actual physical danger from whatever they believe has made them sick.

If that's the case, then it seems reasonable that the flip side of that would be true also. People should be able to become well by simply believing they are well just like they can become sick by simply believing they are sick, don't you think?

+Schinshikss when someone takes an inert pill or other drug and has physical reaction to it, that's a placebo effect. The "nocebo" effect refers to people getting sick from simply believing an outside agent is making them sick without receiving any kind of drug.
