WordPress Developer. Bible Teacher. Navigator.
Introduction
Techno Geek Aficionado for Web Savvy Marketing where I keep the technical side of things running for our rapidly growing WordPress development company.

My areas of responsibility include advanced website coding, overall coding quality assurance; theme audits; server setup, migrations and maintenance; training staff in best practices; managing customer support forums; creating marketing and training content; and other technical aspects required to keep a company moving forward.

Prior to joining the Web Savvy team I have been a life long professional navigator starting with ocean going cargo ships, then went on to US Navy jets. After changing careers from cargo operations in the maritime industry in 2007 I focused on creating easy to use WordPress websites and training folks, especially churches and ministries, how to use them to effectively attract more people.

In 2011 my wife and I moved to Colorado to attend a Bible college. In 2013 we founded a nonprofit ministry called NewCREEations, which is becoming our full time focus. In addition to my geeky side I am also an ordained minister.

Simple Salvation - Romans 10:9
Salvation only requires two things: Confess verbally that Jesus is Lord, and believe in his heart God raised him from the dead.

You're absolutely right in that those are very logical questions which deserve to be answered. I'm with you in that I'm not someone who can "leave my brain at the door of the church," so to speak. God created intellect. Therefore I would never have become a follower of Jesus unless I could see how the pieces fit together in a way that makes sense.

And I apologize up front for the long answer. You've asked serious questions worthy of serious answers. I'll do my best to answer briefly.

That we need saving is typically obvious to each of us because we each know that we've blown it from time to time, at least if we're honest with ourselves anyway. We've all said and done things that tugged at our conscious which we knew were wrong but did them anyway. Or we've failed to do something for whatever reason that we knew was the right thing to do. Let me ask you, are people inherently good or naturally prone to hurt one another? A quick perusal of any day's news headlines seems to point to the latter, indicating that we need saving.

According to the Bible everyone is measured either on the basis of what that individual has done or on the basis of what Jesus has done. It's a straight up pass/fail test where the only passing score is absolute perfection. It doesn't matter how excellent someone's character is because anything even minutely short of that perfect standard ends up with the same failing grade as the most depraved reprobate.

God's holy standard of glory is so high that none of us can honestly say we measure up. There has only ever been one who did and that was Jesus. We can talk in all the theoreticals and hypotheticals we want. But at the end of the day neither you nor I meet God's perfect standard in and of ourselves. And each of us can only answer for ourselves.

The choice we are each faced with is this. On the one hand we can accept that Jesus paid the price for where we fall short. That falling short is what the Bible calls sin. If we do, then he gives us his righteousness and holiness in exchange for our mess that he already paid for. At that point we are what Jesus called saved and judged on the basis of what he did instead of what we do.

Or we can reject the free gift that Jesus offers us. Rejecting the gift means we don't receive any benefits of the gift. At that point we are judged based on our own ability, which falls stunningly short of God's perfect standard.

Paul writes in Romans that, "For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God." (Romans 1:20)

I don't know exactly how it will work for those who are in places where the Gospel isn't obviously preached. I do know that God is just. So not one person will be able to say that it's not fair. For example I have heard that there are tens of thousands of Muslims in Africa that are having dreams and visions of Jesus and converting as a result of those. That opens up more questions for me than it answers. For what it's worth I sure don't claim to have everything figured out.

At the end of the day I had to decide if there is such a thing as truth or not. If truth doesn't exist then nothing else really matters anyway. That's a place where life is pointless and without significance. But if truth exists, then it must be knowable. After many twists and turns my search for truth ultimately ended up at Jesus. I'm here to tell you my life has more significance and excitement now than I've ever experienced.

Poverty is a massive problem in our world, in the Church in general, and in many of our own personal lives. It turns out the Bible has a whole lot to say about poverty and what causes it. The Bible's perspective on this issue is vastly different than the world's perspective. Material lack is not the cause of poverty but rather the result. Therefore the way to fix a poverty problem, or lack in our own lives, is not by wishing for some sudden financial windfall. That will only mask the symptoms for a season without solving the core problem.

At its core poverty is primarily caused by the way we think and act. As we change the way we think we will start to behave in different ways and take different actions. Those different actions will create different outcomes.

Here are seven pitfalls that we can eliminate from our lives which keep us trapped in poverty thinking and prevent true prosperity from entering our lives.

Poverty is not caused by a lack of material things so we cannot fix poverty with money alone. Avoid these seven pitfalls to access increased prosperity.

Paul tells us in Galatians chapter 5 that walking in the Spirit is the key to seeing the fruit of the Spirit increase in our lives. And who wouldn’t want more of that?

Unfortunately what we see from ourselves far too much of the time are those works of the flesh that Paul talks about in that chapter.

So how to we walk in the spirit so that we don’t do the works of the flesh?

In this episode:

* Majority Rules
* Starting Place is Renewing Our Minds
* Bible Study and Relationship

Listen Here:

The key to walking in the Spirit is renewing our mind, which takes time in God’s Word and his presence. Then we will completely transform from the inside out.
