Collection of solar observations between 4-24-13 and 5-8-13. I was hoping to get a smoother animation but the weather wasn't all that cooperative. The large spot that jumps from the top to the bottom of the image took about 10 days to make its journey.
I originally had no intention of going out last night. Thanks to a friend in my astronomy club notifying the club that we should be able to catch some aurora, I left straight from work and ended up having an amazing evening getting these shots.
Some of the shots I was able to take over the holiday weekend. Went for a drive through the countryside around the campground I was staying at and ended up finding an interesting place to take pictures. I even got some lightning bugs to show up in one of the shots.
My son decided that he would like to do an Astronomy project for the Science Fair at school this year. He was excited when he found a project that would get him some telescope time and the ability to use my camera. We will be tracking the count and location of sunspots over the next week to see what we learn.
