New Allwinner media codec library appears to infringe on +FFmpeg LGPL license, and possibly on On2/Google VP6 copyrights.
Allwinner has had to good idea to open allwinner-zh github account last September in order to release source code, binary libraries, and documentation for these ARM processors. Yesterday, the company released a new version of their closed source CedarX library used to decode and encode video ...

Here it is, the 13.2 release candidate. Grab it now..
After three beta releases, we are happy to announce our 13.2 Release Candidate. This follows a couple of months after the 13.1 release, and is considered a small bug fix release. Unfortunately we cannot fix all things reported. Below you will find a list of most important fixes included in this ...

Some of the neater logo suggestions in our ideas thread are actually animated. The below logo has some issues (for one thing, it could be seen to spell something other than Kodi), but the animation itself is pretty cool. Feel free to browse the thread for other great ideas. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=201272

Note: Please refrain from posting about the name itself in that thread or this post. There are other places for that discussion.

We've waited a few days for the dust to settle. And the response to the name change has been pretty much exactly as we expected. People are attached to the old name, no matter whether they call that name XBMC or XMBC. We assure you, we are at least as attached, if not more so.

New Raspberry Pi 2 on sale now at $35

Our newest Raspbery Pi has a 900MHz quad-core ARMv7 processor and 1GB of RAM, and it's about 6x faster than the Model B+. It's still $35. You can buy it now from our distributors.

Once you've updated your SD card you can use it in the new Pi as well as ones you already have. All the connectors are the same as on the B+, and nearly all B+ cases and add-ons will work with it.

More on the Raspberry Pi blog: www.raspberrypi.org/raspberry-pi-2-on-sale/
Let's get the good stuff out of the way above the fold. Raspberry Pi 2 is now on sale for $35 (the same price as the existing Model B+), featuring: A 900MHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU (~6x performance); 1GB LPDDR2 SDRAM (2x memory); Complete compatibility with Raspberry Pi 1 ...

Here it is, our first alpha release under the new name. Kodi 14.0 “codename:Helix” alpha 2 has some great new features. But most of all, a lot of improvements and fixes which can't be counted as "new" features, but will certainly increase overall stability and user friendliness. Read all about it now. http://xbmc.org/kodi-14-0-helix-alpha-2/
Kodi 14, which we gave the codename “Helix“, is shaping up to be what is often called a “stability” release. In software development, many projects operate on a sort of tick-tock release schedule. The “tick” often introduces new features, dramatically alters the UI, and can likely dramatically ...

Thanks to +FFmpeg  we can now also provide support for h265 (HEVC) and VP9 video codecs. Kodi 14.0 will use all CPU cores to decode such formats. You will need a pretty powerful CPU though. The first of the alpha builds is available now: http://xbmc.org/download/#devbuilds
XBMC Entertainment Center is available as a native application for Android, Linux, Mac OS X, iOS (iDevices and Apple TV 2), and Windows operating systems, running on most common processor architectures. A small overview of the features can be found on our about page. For each platform, we offer ...

About two months ago we released our 13.1 version which included several bug fixes compared to the 13.0 release. Because of the fact that not all fixes could be included in that point release, we now are happy to announce a 13.2 beta3 version. We actually skipped the 13.2 beta2 announcement on ...
