Interesting idea! Is there any company that does this state side with get well cards or the like?

Bummer. Gotta watch out for those retargeting ads too!

I order almost every gift online. The 1 downside is having the package delivered & signed for by the giftee! Ecommerce mistakes. WTF :)

The five-story pagoda at Daigoji temple in Kyoto, Japan was built in 951 and is the oldest building in the city. It was one of few buildings to survive the Onin War in the 15th century, and is absolutely stunning, especially when it's close to sunset :)

Some more photos taken around the hotel in Buffalo. I've only ever seen snow and weather like this in the mountains. Very sad to hear the death toll is now at 10 victims.

I took this panorama showing the north of Buffalo on the right, and the south on the left. It's easy to see the differences in weather conditions due to the lake effect.

It can't come soon enough

Today we’re unwrapping the best holiday gift we could’ve imagined: the first real build of our self-driving vehicle prototype.

The vehicle we unveiled in May (goo.gl/qDUtgq) was an early mockup—it didn’t even have real headlights! Since then, we’ve been working on different prototypes-of-prototypes, each designed to test different systems of a self-driving car—for example, the typical “car” parts like steering and braking, as well as the “self-driving” parts like the computer and sensors. We’ve now put all those systems together in this fully functional vehicle—our first complete prototype for fully autonomous driving.

We’re going to be spending the holidays zipping around our test track, and we hope to see you on the streets of Northern California in the new year.  Our safety drivers will continue to oversee the vehicle for a while longer, using temporary manual controls as needed while we continue to test and learn.  Happy holidays!

I stop by Whole Foods occasionally on my way to work in the mornings to pick up breakfast. Their breakfast bar is absolutely fantastic. You can usually find a good assortment of eggs, meat (turkey sausage, bacon, and the like), fresh fruit and more. On Wednesdays they knock around 30% off the price of the weighted food bar. The interior restaurant has cool daily specials and a nice happy hour featuring local craft brews. Last night (Thursday) they were offering pizza and a beer for $6.99 and showing the Chargers game. Love it.

The check-in process was a complete joke. My reservation was lost and apparently not recoverable even though I had a confirmation email. With no manager on duty there were no options for me to get a room until a manager arrived. The story deteriorates from there but eventually (hours later) I was provided a nice upgraded room (at discount) with a stunning view and two complimentary breakfast passes. I'm happy they tried to work with me and were genuinely apologetic.

DISRESPECTFUL and RUDE - I came here to buy a specific Focus I had negotiated for online. Upon arriving at the dealership I was told that A) that car was not on the lot, and B) the trade in value we had discussed was no longer available. When I tried to leave (after having been neglected in my chair for half an hour+) the manager wouldn't hand my car registration over so I had to snatch it from his hands. As I left the dealership a salesman put his arm in my car door so I couldn't close the door and leave. He proceeded to tell me he was going to offer me a better equipped Focus for the same price. I heard another salesman yell out "Why don't we just sell him the car he wants?!" Exactly!

JV's is the #1 Mexican fast food joint in San Diego offering us hungry customers a variety of options from massive burritos to delicious soups. Seriously, if you go here and only order a carne asada burrito or rolled tacos you're doing yourself disservice. Everything form the pasoles to tongue street tacos is delicious - I've never had a bad meal here. Bonus, I've relied on JV's to help cater a couple of casual parties and the results have always been spectacular. The food is inexpensive but delicious, and they can get a catered meal for 20+ ready with 2 hours notice.

It was my first time ever visiting New York and my wife and I decided to stay at the Nolitan. We couldn't have been happier! Everything from the gorgeous rooftop deck, complimentary happy hour, amazingly helpful and friendly staff all made the stay a wonderful memory. I've recommended the Nolitan to my friends, and look forward to the day I can return. Great city, great hotel, great people, what more can you ask for?

I like this place, I do...they've got really great salads. The other stuff however, including the hot plates are always just okay. The beef and fish I've had is always overcooked and the chicken is usually more skin than meat. The line to get food is more than many will stand (I've seen more than a few people renege after a few minutes of not moving. But, the salads are excellent and the desserts equally tasty. Plus, they've got Sculpin on draft. Avoid the line by order ahead and picking up at the register.

This is a cool spot within walking distance of my house The service is always great and they have a decent selection of brews on tap (love me some Sculpin IPA). I really enjoy the inside/outside seating and the happy hours specials are quite good. They always seems to have a fresh catch of the day, which is what I recommend ordering. Grab a beer here then go check out a movie at Cinepolis. Enjoy yourself!
