I'm interested. I'm a year 2 teacher. And I'm travelling from New Zealand to Canada (and a bit of the US)  and back to New Zealand in June/July. Not sure if that could help, but just throwing it out there.

So this is a welcome thing from #telstra. They have been installing new payphones in our local shopping area, complete with a free wifi access point on top. Best part is that the data transfer speed is actually reasonable. (for download anyway... Upload speeds always suck)

Good one Telstra.

Understanding how Drive handles the moving of Shared files is something that I think many of us have probably grappled with so this video hopefully helps set the record straight...

Because you can share Google Docs, there are some interesting things you can do as far as filing documents that have been shared with you. Moving a Doc that's been shared with you does not affect the original owner's view of the same Doc. Same with a Folder... feel free to file away however you like. BUT... don't move a file out of a Shared folder, or things will start getting messy...

I do like my Android Wear Smart Watch... It sounds like there are some exciting new changes in the pipeline.
Your phone can be across the room or across the world, and your Google watch will still work.

After taking my Sydney panorama with +Juan De Luca and +Linda Johannesson week, I thought it only fair that I take a Melbourne panorama tonight while I'm here.

Yesterday I published a short video explaining the potential issues that happen when moving Docs out for Shared Folders in Drive. Of course, there is a solution to avoiding these issues, and here it is...

Question: In the NSW DEC, who are the disruptors? Who is doing really interesting things with technology by bucking the system?

I hear that DEC has done a few things to essentially cripple Google Apps. I'm sure it's just all about (what they feel is) compliance and safety, but it's apparently ruining the experience quite a bit.  Is there anyone who is putting up a fight and finding ways around their restrictions?

And more generally, who are the pirates? Who is thinking different in DEC?

Why not set up your own domain ? I did this with my school - and you get the full Google Apps experience which you control. All for about $25 a year (for the domain name).

Every now and then someone says something that totally makes your day...  I do a bit of training outside of the education sphere and I got this lovely email from a corporate client today that really made me happy...

"Hi Chris. I would like to thank you for your training with <company name removed>. I have been involved in Adult learning for 10 plus years and I can honestly say yours was one of the best and most enjoyable sessions I have ever been to.  I have passed my feedback on to our project manager and to our head office in Paris. I hope to see you again in the near future."

Made my day...

Our new favourite sushi place. Simple and unpretentious, but delicious food. Always fresh and tasty, and well made. Big fan of the Crunch Roll, but really, everything we get from here is good.

The food in the bistro is Ok but the prices are quite ridiculous for a club dining experience. I used to eat here quite a bit a few years ago when the prices were reasonable but hardly visit at all any more... I simply don't want to pay good restaurant prices for an average bistro dining experience. Servings are not large and the food is very average.

We eat here a fair bit (both eat in and take away ) and the food is always good. Fresh, hot, tasty. Prices are reasonable, service is friendly and fast, and the food is delicious. The decor is quite nice too.

Meh. It's a McDonalds, right? So you should get the same consistent, predictable service and food that you get at every McDonalds. Except you don't. This one feels seedy and slummy, the service is consistently average at best. Every time I go there the local police are in there picking up food, which I find strange on a number of levels. Overall, just a really ordinary Maccas. If you really feel you want some Maccas, I'd drive down to the nearby Padstow store as its cleaner, better staffed and always feels like a nicer experience. Which is weird considering McDonalds shouldn't really matter where you go, it should be basically the same.

Great Indian food. Always delicious and hot, we get takeaway from here quite a bit and the food is consistently excellent. The butter chicken is amazing, as are most of their curries. The ambience of the eat-in experience is pretty ordinary, but the food is great.

Good pizza at reasonable prices. Friendly people who run the place. Great local delivery service. They also run a loyalty program that gives you a free pizza every so often. Overall our favourite pizza place in the local area.
