"An Unconditional Basic Income fulfills the universal human right to life, by granting each citizen an equal monthly sum, enough to cover their basic needs to survive, such as food and shelter. This amount is given to everyone, whether rich or poor, employed or unemployed, without requiring anything in return (otherwise it wouldn’t be a human right!).
Removing paid work as a requirement for survival enables people to do meaningful contributions to society, rather than forcing them to abide by market rules that only serve profit. This also allows people to work less hours, which frees up paid work for the currently unemployed."

I'm looking forward to more resource abundance (caused by evolving technological capabilities) tripping up our value-system. This implies a potentially radical paradigm shift as everyone's needs may eventually be met with very little cost (relative to usable resources).
