Tree Care and Removal
Reputable arborists have made large investments in equipment and training required for pruning, tree care and removal. Trucks, hydraulic booms, chippers, sprayers, stump cutters and chain saws represent major investments and maintenance costs. Labor, insurance, safety training and continuing education also add to our service costs. The pricing charged for a job should only reflect the reasonable equipment and staff experts needed to get the job done right to customer expectations. Also, remember that tree pruning is an art – and not all jobs are the same. The arborist’s skill and professionalism are important to your investment and a proper estimate will be given based on the level of difficulty and amount of pruning needed.

There are other ways to save on the cost of tree care and removal, too. Be sure to schedule your work well in advance of when you actually want it completed. This way our company can plan for your location and spend adequate time evaluating your needs – which may provide opportunities to save on costs. It is also helpful on your wallet to talk with neighbors about possible tree maintenance needs on their properties. We can provide discounts for group jobs in nearby locations over smaller, individual jobs.

photo of tree requires emergency tree serviceDid you know that the trees in your yard can actually add value to your home? So, exactly how can trees affect your home value? It comes down to the desirability of what’s growing in your yard and on your geographical location.

Mature trees in your yard can actually add value to your home as long as they are in good health and do not jeopardize the integrity of your home’s foundation. In fact, if you know the species of trees in your yard, you can actually determine how much value they will add to your home.

Bear in mind, however, that unhealthy or hazardous trees could actually detract from home value. A sickly tree that is in danger of breakage or falling, or a tree whose root system has grown so close to the home’s foundation that it’s causing bowing basement walls or other structural issues, could definitely have a negative effect on your property value. Charter Oaks provides emergency tree service in Central Ohio, including Worthington, Westerville, New Albany and many other Columbus communities, when a tree threatens your roof or foundation.

In addition to looking pretty, trees can be helpful on your property because they help to soak up excess water after a rain storm, provide shade to decrease energy bills in warm months, and help to minimize the amount of pollutants that drain into local streams and rivers. Trees help prevent soil erosion on hillsides or stream slopes, trees slow runoff and hold soil in place.Trees block things such as concrete walls or parking lots, and unsightly views. They muffle sound from nearby streets and freeways, and create an eye-soothing canopy of green. Trees absorb dust and wind and reduce glare. Trees combat climate change. Excess carbon dioxide (CO2) caused by many factors is a building up in our atmosphere and contributing to climate change. Trees absorb CO2, removing and storing the carbon while releasing the oxygen back into the air.

In one year, an acre of mature trees absorbs the amount of CO2 produced when you drive your car 26,000 miles. Trees have many benefits and can improve anything from health to property values if properly cared for.

The following is a letter we recently received after completing a local project that included a difficult tree removal:

“Dear Phil,

As I told you when you came out to do our estimate, I chose your company: a) because of the comments I overheard about one of your crews working on a house on Pingree, and b) because Charter Oaks is a local company.

Your crew just left and I can now tell you that I will heartily recommend your company to anyone needing an arborist.

Central Ohio has lost and is losing a lot of ash trees and I suspect that this is keeping tree companies even busier than they normally would be at this time of year. However, when I called you for an estimate, you were out the next day and your crew was there the next day after that. Amazing!

The men who worked on our yard were very polite and accommodating. They worked with me to get the trimming the way that I wanted it yet still keeping a natural looking aesthetic. The guy who worked on the tree that was removed was very careful and safe. The guy who worked in the cherry picker was very patient, carefully working around an awkward tree. All of them worked very hard. I could tell that they had been well trained in safety procedures. When they were done, I think they left the yard more cleaned up than it was before they came!

Once again, I’m really glad I walked to the end of the street to get a card from the other crew. I’m telling all of my friends, family, and neighbors about your company. Thanks again!”
