Congrats to Charter Oak State College alum Carlton Turner on making the +Jackson Free Press's "Guys We Love" list!

"Utica resident Carlton Turner, 42, is an active member of the Jackson arts scene and the executive director of the community-arts organization, Alternate ROOTS.

Although Turner attended the University of Mississippi and Alcorn State University, he received his bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from Charter Oak State College in Connecticut in 2014 and returned to Utica to start his family with his wife, Brandi.

He is also the co-founder and co-artistic director of the Mississippi-based performing arts group M.U.G.A.B.E.E., which blends jazz, hip-hop, spoken-word poetry and soul music together."

Congrats to Charter Oak State College alum Dr. Shawn Hughes on her new position at +Roanoke County Public Schools!

"The school board also named Dr. Shawn Hughes as the new associate director of school counseling, effective July 1. Dr. Hughes began with Roanoke County Public Schools as a counselor at Cave Spring High School. In 2014, she was named the coordinator of counseling for CSHS. Dr. Hughes holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Charter Oak State College, a Master’s Degree from Virginia Tech and a Doctorate in Counselor Education, also from Virginia Tech."

Charter Oak State College was one of six institutions with rigorous prior learning assessment (PLA) programs featured in a recent study by the Online Learning Consortium.

"With an average student age of 39, Charter Oak State College reviewed some of edX’s free online courses and prescribed credit recommendations."

"Charter Oak tracks credit equivalencies with reports that detail the types of credit students received based on a variety of factors. Its database matches many of these credentials to the specific training program."

Want to learn more about our online Master of Science in Organizational Effectiveness and Leadership? Join us for an Open House on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Program begins at 6:00 p.m. The event will take place at the College’s administrative offices, located at 55 Paul Manafort Drive in New Britain, CT.

Participate in an interactive presentation about the M.S. in Organizational Effectiveness and Leadership with the program’s director, Thomas Barron.

The Master of Science in Organizational Effectiveness and Leadership program is an 11-course, 33 credit program offering two tracks – Business and Non-Profit. The course is designed to enhance leadership skills that are relevant to a variety of industries including but not limited to business, health care, non-profits, public safety and others.
