Only a handful of sessions at SXSWedu this year used “MOOC” in their titles or descriptions, but those four letters were still mentioned quite a bit.It is safe to say, MOOCs have been passed over as the disruptor du jour of higher education. But this is a good thing, because now we can get on with t

This is a very nice, clear explanation--unfortunately the loud background music is completely distracting.

Go Extinct! It's Go Fish + Science
A game that is as easy to learn as Go Fish!, teaches kids about clades and the evolutionary relationships between animals, and looks very pretty as well: http://kck.st/1hm5sCx

It plays much like Go Fish! except that instead of sets you collect clades, which are shown on the board. That also adds a twist to the game, as clades contain other clades (eg. monotremes are a clade within mammals). Pretty clever.
What is also clever is that this game can be played by 5th graders, yet teaches biological concepts that are unfamiliar to most adults (for some reason our understanding of biological relationships is still deeply rooted in 19th century concepts).

In short it's a great game/project, but it needs funding, so if you have a few bucks to spare to help teach kids about evolution (or want to own the game yourself) go to their kickstarter page:
