While visiting the +Monterey Bay Aquarium the other day, we got to check out one of their newest "Tentacles" exhibit. Way too much awesome stuff in that exhibit for me to have photos of all of it, but one part was a real surprise (to me): crazy awesome steam-punk-ish metal tentacle-y sculptures. Here are two I got decent photos of, but I assure you they were more awesome than my bad cell phone photos make them out to be. =]

Hawking FTW:

"A demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator."
-- Stephen Hawking, describing Donald Trump

"For a so-called genius, this was an epic fail. If Professor Hawking wants to do some damage, maybe he should try talking in English next time."
-- Corey Lewandowski, Trump's campaign manager

"Trump bad man. Real bad man."
-- Stephen Hawking, later that day

A decadent wine; Savory nose with wood, saffron, mushroom, and pepper; Cool and silky mouthfeel, black fruit with the pectin of pits and peels, green wood, strong tannic backbone; Finish of mushrooms, dirt, and cedar http://www.vivino.com/wines/1402414

Very nearly 'why we drink wine', quite Nuits-St. Georges, nose of barnyard funk, raspberry leaves, touch of woodsmoke, with a hint candied bacon; light and woody on the tongue, Rainer cherries, red raspberry pectin; well structured; lingering finish, more dark barnyard at the back of the tongue, final astringency http://www.vivino.com/wines/3297118

Wrote about how I ended up helping respond to the horror of North Carolina's HB2 passing.

On the nose, wet leaves and stumps, like the East Coast, dark fruit undertones. Lighter bodied than expected. A woody beginning, then I get cherry and cherry pit bitterness, Prolonged spicy finish, anise and clove with the cherry pits at the back of the tongue (at 30 min of breathing)

After an hour, the nose broadens, including some smoke. The mouthfeel changes entirely, gaining a dark, silken texture. Greater fruit, blackcurrant and more cherry. Retains spice on the finish http://www.vivino.com/wines/4627795
