Wow, that was impressive! You nailed them all. I only speak English, and for both of the English ones, I really felt like I should be understanding what you were saying. I'm pretty decent at identifying languages, and I would have totally believed you were really speaking any one of those. Except maybe pizza. ;-)

Excellent terms, even for non-game developers (some of these are universal terms, anyways). Kara, I think you'll especially like some of these. Personally, I'll be using grognardy, and I think we've all met aggronerds.

This is heavily applicable to teaching as well.

And I love the term LSD.

Been trying to think of what I want to say about Steve Jobs passing. While reportedly a real jerk about a lot of things, and a serious PitA to work for, I think that's part of what made him (and Apple) so successful. When he had a vision, you best get out of the way and implement it, and he had an uncanny knack for having visions that were easy for the masses to embrace. He was the driving factor behind so many technological changes, starting with a mass market PC, to a windowed O/S, the iMac, iPod, the iPhone, the iPad. While arguably not the first or best of any of these, they always changed the way people thought about them, and made it easy for mass deployment and enjoyment. His visions were like a technical version of pop music - maybe lacking in depth and complexity, but presented in such a way it sticks with you and is enjoyable for the greatest number of people. Sadly, though there were great engineering and design teams working on these, it seems that a lot of these past examples were driven by his vision and micro-managing, and I fear for the future of Apple and the technology world without him.

Yeah... I think we all learned something today... that even though a person can be an ass, we may still need them in the long run. Yeah.
