Email Merge Tools  -

Our district has a "Bully Report (Google) Form" that students/parents can fill out. I have that spreadsheet set to run FormMule so the contents are emailed right away to Admin of that building. One of the cells of data is a pre-populated URL that pulls data from this submission and puts a hyperlink in the email to admin that they can "Click to report followup."  Clicking the Followup link (from the FormMule email) takes the admin to a 2nd form where all the data is filled in aside from the last 2 questions the admin can fill out one what followup occurred and by who.

PROBLEM:  If the initial user (student/parent) fills out the form and uses Quotes or Backslash or a Hard Return when telling their story, this causing the hyperlink to NOT work in the FormMule email.  I have a screenshot of what I mean below.

Wondering:
1) Is there any kind of 'extra' step I can do in the spreadsheet with a formula that will make this really long/custom URL into something like a tiny or shortened URL so when it's pulled into FormMule, it will work?  (When I go to the spreadsheet and highlight the entire contents of the cell where the URL is and copy/paste into a new tab, the URL works)

2) Other suggestions on how to fix.

I also made a video here that shows this process if helps. Would love any feedback.  +Andrew Stillman +Henry Thiele

Ah Hank...you and +Erik Erickson think alike! We did a hangout this morning and he shared with me a way to make that happen. Going to retool. Lots of great wisdom from this group as I gried a few of the ideas mentioned here and plan to use a few others in other areas. Thanks all!

Yesterday's #iOSSummit  put on by +EdTechTeam was a great event here in Waukesha, WI. The page linked up below contains my resources for my 3 sessions (GDrive on iOS, GApps on iOS and Video Creation on iOS).  Met a lot of great people that were excited to learn on a Saturday and to take that back to their areas of work.

Wow - this is a great tip!  I'm going to share this with my teachers in my district.  Thanks for being so detailed.  Also didn't know about Permanent Clipboard -- adding that now.

Anyone have end of the year Chromebook collection workflow or processes you can share?  We have 1700 devices to collect and looking for management strategies from those that have done this before us. Thanks!

I am in the same boat. What I found is that most schools are skipping the collection and just letting them stay with the student over the summer.

Alright spreadsheet gurus:

We have a spreadsheet of our locker combinations for our padlocks we issue to students (sample picture below)

In row 2, I set a CONDITIONAL FORMAT for CUSTOM FORMULA for cell C2 as =B2=1 to turn that cell Yellow. I can repeat for cells D2, E2, F2 and G2 so that if the head custodian puts in to use combo 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 in row B, then the correct cell will highlight with the in-use combination. My problem is this -- how do I COPY that Conditional formatting down to the next rows so that the formula in the "custom formula" changes to work for B3 and B4 and B5 and so on.

I understand I can highlight and copy my first row and then PASTE SPECIAL > CONDITIONAL FORMATTING but the formula stays locked on for the first row of information rather than changing to the current row. Maybe I need to use a different formula? Help? +Alice Keeler +Erik Erickson +James Petersen

Hello. I work as a Tech Integrator and I'm intrigued by +Notable PDF. Do you have any good links or resources for good workflow we can suggest to our teachers? (i.e. -- if teachers want students to annotate a PDF and share to teacher, or if students want to submit an annotated PDF through a Google Classroom assignment?)  Thanks.

Great idea from +Catlin Tucker
Yesterday, I stumbled onto the KQED YouTube video about making memes. I love memes! A meme is a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc. that is copied–often with slight variations–and spread rapidly by Internet users. I decided I wanted to find a way to incorporate memes in my English class.
