My experience at Kiefer was a mixed bag. Overall I'd call it mostly positive, except for the ridiculous markup on the cars and the fact that they switching financing on me without my consent. Otherwise, everyone there was friendly, I felt it was a pretty low pressure experience and the process went smoothly. Even the financing folks were laid back and presented options without a hard sell, I never felt pressured to buy or pick up add ons and through the process no unexpected fees were stuck on anywhere. No VIN etching, already installed 'value packages', etc. If it ended there, I'd leave a great review! But there are two big issues that annoy me. First, the car I bought had a nearly 10% 'administration fee' added to it and they were trying to sell it to me at $2700 OVER MSRP. I didn't see if every car on the lot had this, but marking up cars 10% is just ridiculous. I mean this is a Mazda we're talking about, it's not some limited edition car with high demand that warrants a markup. It was initially explained to me that this was due to the 0% financing to be able to give the bank a payment for the interest free loan, but then this fee stuck around even when I opted to check other financing options. Secondly, when I filled out financing information we were supposed to be financing it through my credit union. I filled out an application and was told I would be financed through my credit union. No one ever said anything about any other lending institutions. But then a week later my bank calls and tells me that my loan is all set but they're not hearing anything back from the dealer. So I call in and found out that my loan was actually funded through chase bank. Same terms and everything. Why? No real explanation there. I wanted to finance through my own bank, and if they had a valid reason to change it they really should have contacted me to let me know. Just changing lending institutions without my consent is not cool. Given these issues, I cannot honestly recommend Kiefer to anyone. I would suggest you instead head north and find a dealership that is a little more honest and straightforward with their customers. While everyone was nice and hassle free in person, the fact that they'll try to mark cars up over MSRP as well as not keep you in the loop on financing decisions is just not acceptable to me and I really wish I'd taken my business elsewhere.
