I was having tremendous jaw pain, headaches and difficulty chewing. I was to the point chewing bread was painful!!! After Consultation and mouthpieces one for day and one for night with in a week I was already feeling a significant decrease in my pain and now today I have practically no pain. I am so thankful that my cousin referred me!

I went through 2 different doctors before finding Dr. Maggan. He was able to immediately diagnose my issue and develop a non-surgical solution. I got immediate results from the appliance that he had made for me.

Excellent review by Jean Hames Sellers, via Facebook

I had TMJ problems since I was 10 years old. The problems got progressively worse as I got older. Normal appliances were only temporary fixes. As I hit my 50s, the pain became almost unbearable. To make matters even more complicated, I had sleep apnea as well. My dentist recommended Dr. Maggan. Even though treatment was out-of-pocket it was worth every penny. My TMJ is much, much better (almost no pain). My sleep apnea is under control too, without the CPAP! Dr. Maggan, Jamie, and the rest of the staff made me feel like an old friend from the time I walked through the door. I have told my dentist to only recommend Dr. Maggan when referring TMJ patients. I will always recommend them too.

Dr. Maggan has a complete understand in and knowledge of TMJ disorders. He made sure I understood the biomechanics of my issue and what was needed to help me heal. He is professional, thoughtful, knowledgeable and listens well. Everyone who works with him is personable, friendly, helpful and kind. I wish all doctor offices were like this practice. I have recommended him to many friends and will continue to do so.

Dr. Maggan is wonderful. I was suffering horribly with TMJ, unable to open my jaw very much and only eating soft foods. He developed a strategy specific to my needs , explaining in detail his plan to make sure I understood. He was clear about cost, with no surprise bills during the process. Now, within the timeline he gave, I can open my jaw fully and have no issues with eating anything. I would recommend him to anyone. My only regret is not going to see him sooner.

If you place your fingers just in front of your ears and open your mouth, the movement you feel is your temporomandibular joint or TMJ.

It is a small ball-and-socket joint with three parts:
- The ball, called the condyle
- The socket, called the glenoid fossa
- A small, fibrous disk that sits between the condyle and the glenoid fossa.

If you have jaw joint noises or jaw clicking, jaw locking, jaw pain, ear pain or headaches, you are more than likely suffering from a temporomandibular disorder (TMD). Call our office at 770-521-1978 to set up a consultation appointment with Dr. Manoj Maggan - who is board certified in Craniofacial Pain.

Signs of sleep apnea:

• Your bed partner notices that you snore and/or gasp for air regularly during sleep. (Not everyone who snores has apnea, but nearly everyone with apnea snores, and snorers are more at risk for developing apnea if they gain weight.)

• You're not rested by sleep and/or need frequent naps.

• You have hard-to-treat high blood pressure.

• You are obese, often with a large belly. (Having a neck collar size bigger than 16 inches for women and 17 inches for men.)

• The signs can be different in children, who tend to get hyperactive or have learning problems when tired, so they are often misdiagnosed.
