He is one of the reasons why I became a curator myself, so this interview is extra special!

"Many families facing exorbitant food prices have turned to local food banks. Food bank use increased across the country in 2012, suggesting that a rising number of households struggled to put food on the table, the report suggested."

More than one-third of households in Nunavut lack access to safe and healthy food — a level that is four times the national average, according to a new Statistics Canada report. The report “Food Insecurity in Canada,” released W...

Reading +Mack Collier's article brought to mind the typical salesman call at dinner time. The person introduces themselves and tells me why their product / service rocks. Then, they ask if I would be interested in giving it a try.

However, rarely does the salesperson speak from the "you" standpoint. It's all about them.

It's very similar to the pitches I receive in my inbox or the companies' blogs that I follow. There is a huge disconnect between what brands want to achieve and what they actually do to achieve it.

In this post, Mack asks us to rethink the way we craft our messages and pitches. He challenges us to show instead of telling.

Great case study and conclusion!

The other night during #Blogchat, Josh left these tweets about his business: So Josh is in a situation where he is shifting from providing dog training services, to focusing on manufacturing products for dog owners and likely dog trainers.  He wants to know how to create content that promotes the products he's manufacturing, but one that isn't too 'salesy' and that still covers topics related to dog training. This is a problem that a lot of compa...

Stop Pretending That Fundraising Is Different From Sales

I learnt what +Gary Vaynerchuk describes in this article the hard way. I wish more non-profits would.

He talks about guilt trips, which is exactly what many do. It's about what's in it for the donors.

It may be a harsh truth, but it is the most important truth there is.

#nonprofit #fundraising
When it comes to a non-profit fundraiser setting, the rules of making a sale absolutely apply.

I am originally from France and finding French food that tastes as such in Winnipeg can be challenging. Chez Sophie is the best French restaurant in the city. The owners have done a fantastic job promoting themselves and adapting to the local audience. Update: The pizza recipe has changed. The service as well. I'm not as impressed as I used to be!

The first couple of times I visited, the service and food were less than impressive. I am glad I decided to give this restaurant another chance, as things have improved greatly.
