Have you ever been face to face with a Mountain Lion? Last fall a friend of mine, while elk hunting on San Antonio Mountain, stood looking across a meadow in the clear morning light. Suddenly, over two hundred yards away, he saw a mountain lion springing toward him! Though he had heard of lions attacking hunters, he put his rifle down and surrendered. In a few moments the lion passed by him, just ten feet away. He told me how the lion had blessed him and shifted his perspective on parts of his life that had been very painful and challenging.

I have hiked for thirty years in back country of New Mexico and have never seen a mountain lion in the wild. Yet I love lions. They are solitary, powerful creatures who know who they are in every way. They move through the landscape in tune with the environment with every fiber in their body. Sometimes when I need a little help I call on these mighty animals for inspiration.
I made this piece to honor the lion. She looks right at you, reminding us of the truth of wild freedom and beauty. I used 24K gold for accents overlaid upon sterling silver. On the other side of the pendant is a tree and stars. I’ve occasionally created animals and birds for our customers. What animal speaks to you? Maybe I can make one for you.

"Love is a temporary madness,
it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides.
And when it subsides you have to make a decision.
You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.
Because this is what love is.
Love is not breathlessness,
it is not excitement,
it is not the promulgation of eternal passion.
That is just being "in love" which any fool can do.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.
Those that truly love, have roots that grow towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom have fallen from their branches, they find that they are one tree and not two.
- Louis de Bernières from Captain Corelli's Mandolin.

Do you have old jewelry you would like to create something new with? A customer walked in with an 18K white gold bracelet. He wanted wedding rings made from it. We melted the bracelet down, rolled it out and created wire, from which we made two hammered rings. We can also do the same with old wedding rings. If you want new rings, from old rings or heirloom jewelry, give us a call, or fill in our Custom Design form to start the ball rolling at CelticJewelry.com. http://www.celticjewelry.com/custom-designs.html 1 (888) 733-5238

These days, contemporary Celts, neo-pagans and others interested in alternative marriage ceremonies have adopted the tradition of handfasting, which involves binding the hands of the couple with ribbon or cord in a public to symbolize marriage vows.
