It was too hot yesterday to do our walking club outside, so instead we had an impromptu presentation/ discussion about lighthouses! Don and his wife, Pam were gracious enough to visit the memory care and tell us about his adventures up and down the coast taking pictures of lighthouses. Here are a couple of his pictures, and they're amazing. Don sold his prints as very popular post cards. We are lucky to have such an interesting man live in our community! #ourinterestingneighor

We've got some silly seniors living here at Cedar Village! We sure love their senses of humor. Look at one of the many silly faces Frances likes to make. How about the time that Rosemary was given a piece of wall decoration and she wore it on her head like a crown. All hail princess Rosemary! Then there's the look that Genelle gets whenever she wins a game. So sassy! And the time that Evelyn made a joke about eating soap and it cracked everyone up! And speaking of jokes, here's what Bobbi looks like when she tells her famous dirty joke about snow. We're not going to tell it here, you'll have to ask her some time. These fun people make living here a joy! #sillyseniors #FrontierCulture

Some donated lavender blooms and left over fabric and ribbons create beautiful sachets for people we miss or those who could use a lift. Each one in the craft class took one home to tuck in their dresser drawer.

Beach trip! Here in Salem, we're only an hour away from the Oregon coast. So, we took advantage with a trip to Lincoln City! It was windy and cool, which was a nice break from the hot weather back home. A special thank-you to the kitchen for the wonderful lunch they sent of fried chicken, salads, rolls, watermelon, and pie! Jimmy reminisced about how he used to bring his wife to Lincoln City and how she liked to visit the shops. They're still the same. And our weekend receptionist, Sharon join us for a nice visit! It was a great trip! #summertime #SeniorLiving #beachtrip

Americans, on average, throw away 35 billion plastic bottles per year. Cedar Village, along with radiant residents like Neoma are collecting bottles to put towards a good cause! From now until September all proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association for our Alzheimer's Walk (September 16). We would love your help! Stop by the front desk and grab one of our green bags and fill with your recyclable cans and bottles and donate them to the cause!

Did you know that there are miles of underground tunnels leading from one business to another in downtown Salem? Just one of the many facts we discovered after Wednesdays #LifeLongLearning discussion with local historian, John Ritter
