Met this guy today around the corner when back from lunch.. is your autonomous patrolling robot to make neighborhoods and colleges safe. Felt like going into the future, a future that many might consider too creepy, but I loved the guy with his soothing sound.
Jibo is really cool and I agree about each household's individual decision. I love personal robots, but I don't like the use case of robot security patrol. People will need to be responsible for their robots... if you let your robot patrol your neighborhood you need to be sure he's not going to flip out and attack someone for being rude or aggressive (here in the NYC area people get aggressive pretty quick, lol) I don't like people having guns, I don't think I'd like robots having them either, lol. Where do we draw the line with robots that are stronger than us and able to crowd control/subdue a person? I guess I'm talking more about the ethical development of technology in certain use cases rather than the public's adoption. I fully support soccer playing Nao, personal assistant Jibo, and even hobbyist Meccanoid.
