My name is Gail Henry and I have an incredibly successful journey to share. I've spent my entire life without my father, without a name, or even a clue to his identity. My mother refused to tell me anything. My journ...

I'm connected to 2 adoptees through DNA testing, and they are too distant for me to really help them, on my own unfortunately.  This story brought tears to my eyes.  Very happy that this story had a happy ending, and that Gail was so embraced by her sisters!

I became aware today of a trademark case recently filed by Ancestry.com vs. DNA Diagnostics Center. Although DDC's "AncestryByDNA" test has been around in one form or another for many years prior to the launch of "Ance...

Benjaman Kyle, the man with no name who lost his memory 11 years ago, has now finally found his ID thanks the genetic genealogy and the volunteer efforts of a wonderful team of DNA detectives headed up by +CeCe Moore
The man who called himself BK, Benjamin Kyle, after waking up behind a Burger King more than a decade ago with no memory has learned his real identity.

“How would we estimate the date that the African-American ancestor entered our family tree?” asked Dorothy in her question to The Root. 23andMe geneticist Kasia Bryc answers here: http://23me.co/th6U1E
Tracing Your Roots: A white sister and brother have both found a small amount of African ancestry in DNA test results, and now they have questions.

CeCe, I transferred my autosomal DNA results to gedmatch.  On there I have some "unusual" hints of ancestry.... but like in this case, they were under 1%.  The website "warns" that anything under 1% is just "noise".  Wouldn't that be the case here?  Thanks.

(In my case Oceanic, and Subsaharan/Pygmy.  Showed up on gedmatch, but under 1%).  :)

Finally, an answer for Paul Joseph Fronczak (Jack) thanks to my amazing DNA Detectives team's effort: Carol Isbister Rolnick, Michelle Milledge Trostler and Allison Ramsey Demski. He now knows his name, DOB and biological family. http://www.lasvegasnow.com/news/i-team-mans-identity-revealed-50-year-old-mystery-solved
A Nevada man who has been searching for his true identity finally has some answers.

I knew a Fronczak who made me pay 24,000 dollars falsely back to Soc. Sec. Sorry about left field comment but that is immediately what came to mind. Rope is made by twisting.

A couple of mistakes in there, but at least it gets the word out. I said she has a Finnish GREAT grandparent, not grandparent. Also I think her grandparents and/or great grandparents were the immigrants, probably not her parents. And hundreds of thousands in the databases, not tens as many of you  know. Good for visibility regardless. We need more testers from Lake Worth, Florida, so hopefully this will help!   #adoptee #DNA   #foundling   #genealogy
Can you help Mary Katherine Erskine, known as Katey, solve a mystery more than 30 years old? Despite the passage of time, Palm Beach Post readers may be able to...

A must-read blog post by Joe Pickrell on those troublesome admixture percentages.
This post is by Dr. Joe Pickrell (@joe_pickrell). Anyone who has used commercial genetic testing products like those offered by 23andMe or AncestryDNA will be familiar with the idea of “genetic ancestry”. After mailing in a saliva kit, these companies return a report with seemingly-precise ...

It is pretty tough filtering through distant cousins to find commonality.  It's like trying to fit puzzle pieces together.  I'm happy to read Kayla had success on 23 and Me.  I ended up choosing the competitors, because I found 23Me's subscription price a little harrowing.  Of course, I'm not in the same situation as Kayla - which is much more relevant for her knowing, perhaps her genetics, family medical history, etc.
Thanks for posting another success story, Ce Ce!  So glad you can help people searching for answers to some very tough questions....

Paul Fronzcak is not the only foundling for whom DNA has identified biological family. Kayla Tovo's incredible reunion story is featured on the front page of today's Orange County Register. http://www.ocregister.com/articles/tovo-670236-kayla-baby.html
