It's been a busy year here at CDS Electrical. As we look towards the end of 2016 and the start of a new chapter in 2017, it is the perfect time to reflect on all of the things we did as a company.

• We became the company with the most amount of reviews on Checkatrade for any electrical contractors in the whole of Sussex.
• Surpassed over 1,400 followers on Twitter. A 3,900% increase from January 1st.
• Surpassed over 200 likes on Facebook. A 560% increase from January 1st.
• Raised over £2,500 for various charities, including 'Macmillan Cancer Trust', 'Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice' and 'Tree of Hope'.
• Took part in, and hosted more events than ever before in previous years.
• Launched our new website. A fresh new look from top to bottom and it is now receiving 3x the amount of traffic compared to our previous website.

We also took part and hosted a whole load of events throughout the year. Please check our blog post for an overview of what we got up to in 2016.

What do the different lights mean on the Nest Protect?

The Nest Protect has recently been redesigned from the inside out. With it's latest unveiling it now had an industrial grade smoke sensor that tests itself automatically and lasts for up to a decade. Another great feature that we love about the Nest Protect is the lighting features that quickly let you know the current status.

Take a look at the infographic below for a rundown of what the different colours refer to. In short, green means everything is fine, yellow means everything is ok but best to keep an eye out, and then red means there is dangerous levels of smoke or carbon monoxide. The fourth status is white, which lights the room lightly if you need to get up in the middle of the night.

We are official Nest Pro installers and are able to install all of the available Nest products, including the Nest Protect. If you would like to know more about any of the Nest products or to arrange for CDS Electrical to come and fit any of the Nest products for you, please call us on 01323 734162 or send us an e-mail to info@cdselectrical.co.uk.

It was Networking Central at 'Let's Do Business Hastings 2016'.

On Thursday 29th September we exhibited at Let's Do Business Hastings for our first time. We exhibited earlier on in the year at the Eastbourne one and after enjoying the format we decided to book for Hastings.

Eastbourne was good, but Hastings was great. There is something about Hastings and its passion for business and success. The day which ran from 10am til 4pm at the Hastings Centre was a roaring success with people visiting our stall virtually non stop for the entire day. Levi Roots even popped by in the afternoon and gave a talk about how he succeeded in business.

Our infamous giveaway which we also ran at the Eastbourne expo; "Guess how many grommets are in the jar" proved incredibly popular once again. Over a hundred entries, but unfortunately just one winner. With a guess of '1,066', Mr Powell from the Hastings Borough Council was the closest and won 'Afternoon Tea for Two' at the Bannatyne's Hotel and Spa in Hastings. Yum!

Our Macmillan Coffee Morning was a huge success.

Today from 10am until 1pm we hosted a 'Macmillan Coffee Morning' right here at our offices in Polegate. The 'Macmillan Coffee Morning' which is often dubbed as the 'World's Largest Coffee Morning' due to the vast amounts of people and business hosting coffee mornings in aid of Macmillan on the same day is a great charity raising event.

We had a great turnout through the morning and managed to raise quite an astonishing £252.59. Far outdoing our goal of £50. We are looking forward to dusting off the pots and pan and donning the apron again next year.

Staff from the office made a wide selection of cakes and bakes, ranging from Victoria Sponge and Lemon Drizzle cake, to Carrot Cake, Chocolate Brownies and even a Raw Cake. A lot of sweet choices to go down well with that complementary mug of tea or coffee; and we also had a great pile of homemade sausage rolls to accommodate the savoury eaters amongst us. A great choice for the people who came to visit.

We've been crushing those digital milestones.

For the past eleven months we have really been beginning to invest our time into the digital age and develop our online presence. A series of goals were set out at the end of last year for us to accomplish by the end of 2016.

These included, obtaining a total of 500 reviews on Checkatrade, reaching 1,000 followers on Twitter and setting up new social channels on the likes of Facebook, YouTube, Google+ and more.

We reached 500 reviews on Checkatrade back on the 20th April 2016. We did a little blog post about it. Since then, we have continued to obtain these genuine reviews from our wide range of customers and have now hit another milestone; 550 reviews.

Our Twitter profile that boasted 35 followers at the end of October 2015, has just pushed through the 1,300 follower mark; an increase of 3,614%.
