May 20, 1928. Dearest Dad: Hooray for the last grand adventure! I wish I had won, but it was worth while anyway. You know that. I have no faith we'll meet anywhere again, but I wish we might. Anyway, good-by and good luck to you. Affectionately, your doter, ...

"TV Review: iZombie feeds the craving for quick wit left by Veronica Mars (and then some)" http://www.avclub.com/review/izombie-feeds-craving-quick-wit-left-veronica-mars-216618?utm_medium=RSS&utm_campaign=feeds
“Life’s short, and then you die.”Protagonist Olivia “Liv” Moore (Rose McIver) states this via voice-over in iZombie’s pilot, striking the nerve of overwhelming nostalgia to a previous CW series: Veronica Mars. Both shows come from the same creative minds (Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright), but t

It won't happen, but wouldn't it be engaging political theater to watch the 47 Republicans who signed that open letter to Iran defend themselves if Eric Holder decided to make them sweat on his way out?

Reading the news about The Moon is a Harsh Mistress also surfaced a movie I didn't know was based on the Heinlein story "All You Zombies," Predestination may have just jumped ahead of the other Ethan Hawke movie I missed last year in the To Watch queue ...
Read and re-read Heinlein voraciously as a kid, still have a shelf and a half of his books, though it's hard to get my today head around the fact younger me thought that they were that great. (Wish I'd spent some of that time giving Asimov another shot instead.) Still, I'll be interested to see ...

This is one of the gets-recycled-every-few-months stories that many of you will have already seen, I'm sure, but it was new to me.
On September 25, 1999, Murray went on a skydive, jumping at 4400 meters. Her main parachute could not open, and although her backup parachute opened at 200 meters, it quickly deflated. She approached the ground at 130 kilometers per hour, landing on a mound of fire ants. Doctors believe that the ...

Curiouser and curiouser ...
When Benedict Cumberbatch was photographed dressed up as original-recipe Sherlock for Sherlock's upcoming special episode, we wondered: Was it time travel? A dream sequence? A masterful bit of trolling? Now, thanks to Steven Moffat, we have our answer: None of the above! As it turns out, ...

No social media site worked better. It was just never the it site.

The dealbreaker for me was that I couldn't pry my IRL friends and family away from facebook.

Likewise, it'll be similarly cursory RIP post on my blog when G+ downgrades to Streams or whatever they're doing and it, too, fades away.
Amidst all the Apple watch hoopla today, FriendFeed's blog announced the long-ignored social networking pioneer was finally going to be taken out back behind Facebook's brilliant new campus and be put down for good. Posted by Cdog Zilla at 6:56 PM · Email ThisBlogThis!

Introduction
Blogging primarily about Doctor Who while I watch (and re-watch) the entire series.

Sure, I could have chosen any number of other shows to bounce my interest in philosophy, history, progressive politics, secularism, and pop culture off; but, while others have burned brighter for periods of time, no other series has held my interest for so long. Nor is another likely to.

I've been a few times now and can heartily recommend the pulled pork and Aviator Monster (pulled pork, brisket, and bacon) sandwiches. The brisket in the sandwich was fine, not as jerky-like as the serving E.B. got in his/her April 1, 2011 review. Friendly service at the tables and at the bar. It was a little slow the first time, but that's to be expected in the first month of a new restaurant's operation. Has been quicker both times since that first visit. The baked beans have great flavor and the fries were very good. Will definitely keep going back for more.

The new library is being built around the corner and looks like it will be a beautiful facility. The existing library is desperately undersized but I mostly request books online and just run in to pick them up and drop off on my way to and from work. The library staff are always very friendly and helpful. It's a pain getting our double stroller through the front door, but I'm hoping that won't be an issue in the new building. All in all it's nice little small town library.
