When I'm hard on Doctor Who, it comes from a place of love. "The Chase," we should acknowledge. Is largely a mess. But even a mess, a mess that makes a mockery of the Daleks, among many questionable decisions of execution, has sublime moments that make it worth watching.

Part of loving the show is acknowledging and forgiving its flaws, so when Ian and Barbara leave, you feel it. So that when Steven goes back for his stuffed panda, you can chuckle. Groan at the Mary Celeste sequence so you've paid your dues for the Dalek/Mechonoid battle sequence. Roll your eyes at the Aridians, the Mire Beasts, and Ian's cardigan trap, so you're watching with integrity when the Doctor shows his heroic character in the face of the Dalek ultimatum.

Terry Nation has a lot to answer for, but he's undeniably an integral part of DW's rich tapestry.

Here is the epic six-part conclusion to the Key to Time sequence where we meet another renegade Time Lord, get a bit of insight into the Doctor's mysterious past, meet the actress who will play the next Romana ... and yet the most memorable thing about it is how gorgeous the first Romana looks in that dress.

"Edwin F. Kagin Dies at 73; Battled Religious Displays" http://feedly.com/e/rUEyvTaG

_Mr. Kagin was asked if he felt hostility toward the religious beliefs of others — people whose beliefs, the reporter added, were doing him no harm.

“But they are doing me harm,” he shot back. “They’re doing harm to a great number of people. They’re saying that ‘what we’re doing is sacred and inviolate. We can do whatever we want to your rights. And you cannot react.’ ”_

2312 mentioned as an example of a popular, acclaimed work that included fluid, non-binary gender.
Most science fiction still sticks to straight story lines. It's time the genre explored fluid gender identity and LGBT themes

I've been a few times now and can heartily recommend the pulled pork and Aviator Monster (pulled pork, brisket, and bacon) sandwiches. The brisket in the sandwich was fine, not as jerky-like as the serving E.B. got in his/her April 1, 2011 review. Friendly service at the tables and at the bar. It was a little slow the first time, but that's to be expected in the first month of a new restaurant's operation. Has been quicker both times since that first visit. The baked beans have great flavor and the fries were very good. Will definitely keep going back for more.

The new library is being built around the corner and looks like it will be a beautiful facility. The existing library is desperately undersized but I mostly request books online and just run in to pick them up and drop off on my way to and from work. The library staff are always very friendly and helpful. It's a pain getting our double stroller through the front door, but I'm hoping that won't be an issue in the new building. All in all it's nice little small town library.
