This month I chatted with Firma Energywear designer Yvonne Hogenes about her business success since joining business mentor group GroYourBiz.
“I was initially resistant (to join),” she said. “But I really liked the straightforward business approach Hanne Madsen (chair of GroYourBiz White Rock) took.”

Well this is awesome! I've heard people talk about how easy the Duplicator is to use and I have to agree - it's simple and definitely makes the transfer process a lot faster than exporting the database and changing the URL ... uploading files etc etc.... fav new #wordpress   #plugin    #pluginsforwordpress
Using a local server environment will save you a bunch of time if you regularly develop new WordPress websites. Local development has many advantages – it's faster and more secure than constantly uploading files to a server. The only proble[...]

"Scare tactics don’t build trust." - A great take away from the blog post.
Content marketing isn't exactly a walk in the park. After having my fair share of poor performing articles, it was time to figure out why.

Thanks Carrie your last couple of newsletters on accessibility came at the perfect time as I'm currently working on a site for a vision impaired client. The topics you have covered are related to designers making the site accessible to those viewing the front end of the site, however my question relates to the backend of WordPress. When sitting with her using JAWS and trying to navigate the backend it doesn't seem to navigate perfectly. Do you know of any resources for visually impaired users to learn how to navigate the backend? I could only find the WordPress codex for shortcuts. http://codex.wordpress.org/Keyboard_Shortcuts

Was really happy ‪#‎AMEX‬ called to offer me a new credit card and told me they' be recording the call.

Awesome I said, please record me and pass on this message . . . "I have told my clients I will no longer be accepting Amex cards and I will have nothing to do with your company so long as you continue to be a major sponsor of Seaworld. I don't support whales in captivity."

Take that recording and do something useful with it. #‎emptythetanks‬

Then I gleefully jumped in the air like a wild killer whale.

The following might surprise you...Barely anyone is landing on your homepage!

"I'm willing to wager that less than 1/15th of your visitors come in to your site through your homepage (or landing pages), and that less than 1/10th of your visitors ever see your homepage (or landing pages). And also that there are at least 3 other pages that place higher in the list of entrance pages than your homepage.."  +David Kutcher #landingpage #webdesign
When designing a website, the focus is invariably on what is typically the most unique page within the website: the Homepage. But what about the vast majority who don't enter from the Homepage?

I develop front end web solutions for businesses located throughout Canada and Australia. My aim as a web developer is to improve my clients presence on the web and on social media platforms.
