Actually, I’m leaving in a Cadillac, but sometimes it feels like a jet plane when I’m driving down the road. What the heck am I talking about? Well, some of you may know that I’ve been talking about moving for a while. We were going to move three years…

Big changes coming to Google+ and Youtube. Check out the details below.

Google+ will be unlinked from YouTube and other Google products

Big changes are coming to how Google+ works in conjunction with other Google products, more specifically YouTube.

From Google blog post (http://tgcafe.it/1JLpNQk):

"People have told us that accessing all of their Google stuff with one account makes life a whole lot easier. But we’ve also heard that it doesn’t make sense for your Google+ profile to be your identity in all the other Google products you use.

So in the coming months, a Google Account will be all you’ll need to share content, communicate with contacts, create a YouTube channel and more, all across Google. YouTube will be one of the first products to make this change, and you can learn more on their blog. As always, your underlying Google Account won’t be searchable or followable, unlike public Google+ profiles. And for people who already created Google+ profiles but don’t plan to use Google+ itself, we’ll offer better options for managing and removing those public profiles."

Google describes this change as putting "everything in its right place."

What does it mean with respect to comments on YouTube, and to your overall YouTube experience?

Comments

The comments you make on YouTube will now appear only on YouTube, not also on Google+. And vice-versa.

This starts rolling out today.

Your YouTube channel

In the coming weeks, YouTube will no longer require a Google+ profile when you want to upload, comment, or create a channel.

If you’re happy with everything as it is now, then just keep on keepin’ on.

If you want to remove your Google+ profile, you’ll be able to do this in the coming months, but do not do it now or you’ll delete your YouTube channelhttp://tgcafe.it/1LONTzI

And there you have it. More G+ housekeeping.

Also, if you are curious (or even more so now!) about the future of Google+, here's an interesting read by +Suzanne Delzio  at +Social Media Examiner  with quotes from +Ryan Hanley and +Eric Enge http://tgcafe.it/1VJqxyx.

How to Develop the One Trait Essential for Success via Michael Hyatt

I've been a big fan of Michael Hyatt for a while now. He has that rare quality to empower people gently to do what they want to do. I find value in his words. I'm sharing this because maybe you will, too. :]

Success has many determining factors, including dumb luck. But I’ve been thinking of one lately that’s largely indispensable and totally learnable—persistence. Have you ever felt like bailing on that one thing you know you’re supposed to do? As a teen I picked up guitar and started a rock band. But it took a long time […]

So, tonight I logged into Google Plus and saw that I had a notification. I clickety-clicked on the little bell and noticed that someone had +1d a comment I made on a Youtube video today. Problem is, I haven't been on Youtube all day.

Further investigation showed that the comment was on a Minecraft video. In fact there were multiple comments made today, and all of them are on Minecraft videos... Hmm...now who in this house watches Minecraft videos incessantly and currently wants to grow up to be a "Youtuber"?

That would be my almost 9 year old son.

So, tonight I had to tell my son that he couldn't post comments on Youtube (at least not under my account). I never want to discourage him from having an opinion, stating that opinion, or joining in a conversation. However, he now knows that his activity has been showing up under my account.

Since it's almost bed time I've delayed the talk about "the internet, commenting on things, and how it's all tied to your identity" until later.

And we'll definitely have to figure something out if he does actually want to comment on videos, or anything else. Currently Google's policy is that no one under the age of 13 can have an account.

Anyway... that's life as a parent in today's age...

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Yeah, we've already had to have the talk about "downloading" things... I ended up with a malware program on my computer, which is not good, since I use it for my side business as well as personal use. That was fun.

I swear we've had the talk about not commenting on youtube videos, since it's logged into my account. Either he forgot, or I was hallucinating that conversation...

Social Media Consultant and Trainer
Introduction
I've been doing social media for 6 years now. I actually got my start with social media working for Incredible Pizza Company as a Marketing Director and Social Media Specialist. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity they gave me. These days, I'm working for myself, you can check me out here or at Team 3 Media. My position at Online Marketing Giant ended very recently. Now I'm focusing on building my business back up to where it was before. My current focus is training and consulting (which is what I'm passionate about).

Let me tell you why I love social media so much. I got my job at Executive Data Control without an interview, all due to social media. Now I will use it to build my own business. It is powerful, it is current, and it make the world a better place. :)

If you have any questions about how to use social media, you can check out my blog. I'm always happy to help. :)

I started taking my son to All Star about a year ago. I have known Tammy for a while, and so I was curious to see what the classes would be like. I have to say that I was impressed! The gym is large and clean. There is an observation area in the top where you can watch your kids. The coaches are knowledgeable and are good at coaxing the kids (even the unruly ones) into doing the gymnastics moves. Since my son started he has become more confident and is less scared of trying new things!
