Hooray! for the New Vision & LCS charter approvals. But, wow, the quote at the end is torture. "I didn't buy a home in Steeplechase to have my kids bused to one of the lowest schools in the district. I want my kids in a school closer to home and with better scores." TSD has a rough road ahead of them.
What the study shows, Ellison and Swanson suggest, is that a school’s expectations and environment matter even for students who arrive with every advantage. The difference seems to lie in whether a school focuses on basic competence or encourages exceptional achievement. While almost all the schools saw it as their responsibility to cover the math knowledge necessary to do well on the SATs, the authors noted that “there is much less uniformity in whether schools encourage gifted students to develop more advanced problem solving skills and reach the higher level of mastery of high school mathematics.”
While visiting the memorial is powerful, the rigamarole getting there is daunting. Lines everywhere, crabby security guards, walk, walk walk. And after an hour in line (with tickets!) no bathrroms. Yet. Can't wait for the Museum building to open. Look for an off-time to visit. You will be overwhelmend by the memorial but underwhelmed by the lines.
Excellent little theater. I can't believe how intimate it was. Book of Mormon was stunning on the stage (so much smaller than in Denver!). he guys working the lottery and standing ticket line are great. Be nice, they have a tough job. This is a hard-to get ticket right now.
What?? No bibimbab? That's right, this place is "fusion" Known for their chicken wings, I have to say, everything we tried was fabulous. The wait staff was so awesome, helping us out with a scoutmob deal we found when we just checked in to foursquare. Great Lychee Martini!
Hit this spot as 17 yr old son thought it would be cool to be in Justin Timberlake's restaurant. Even though it was 4:30 and practically empty, the server didn't want us to sit near the window unless we ordered food. So we did. The bbq pizza was good enough for my son and the nachos with mac and cheese sauce was good.
Well, you aren't there for the service anyway. This megastore has all you need for a chinese dinner at home, and then some. From cheap cheap cheap, to some pricey, but lovely gongs, this place has it all. I love to pick up some chinese erasers for nephews & nieces whenever I visit. Who doesn't love sushi erasers?
As a math teacher, I had to check this out. My 18 yr old son had a wonderful time and was so excited to show how he had learned to solve rubik's cube using the building tools. The price is steep for an hour visit, but I expect great things in their future!
