Black sand beaches make amazing contrast with the white ocean including this one near Shelter Cove, California. I knew I wanted a figure in the scene to provide a little more contrast and break the smooth curve of the surf. What better way than to grab my surfboard and head to the beach myself. A self-timer remote capturing one shot every 2 seconds made this easy.
Starting today, I am making a change in how I release photographs. From now on, all of my fine art photographs will come accompanied with a full-length editing tutorial video along with the original RAW file in a post on my blog.
Each download will be only $5. I believe in sharing knowledge with the world, so I am excited to see where this goes. You can check out my first 40-minute video and read more about the photo and editing process here: http://caseymacphoto.com/long-exposure-video-tutorial
Sorry for the short notice, but let's get together to hang out, catch up, drink, and take some photos in SoMa. Location is the bar at the address. Not sure the name right now, but we'll meet there and venture on later in the evening.
Double stacked Big Stoppers helped create this super long exposure during mid-day near Davenport, California. I comped in a single exposure for the bottom portion of the frame to create sharp plant life and a smaller shadow from the lower portion of the pier. I considered taking the time to Photoshop out the footprints, but decided ultimately to just leave them in.
I am a full-time Web developer and part-time photographer. Outdoor adventure has been a love of mine since a young age. There's something about being in the mountains or on the beach where the rest of the world disappears and it's just you and nature. Taking photographs is my way of sharing my view of the world with others.
