Remembering on Memorial Day Members from each generation of my family have served for as long as I can remember. Most came home. Some did not. Some served for glory. Some served for duty. Some served because they had to. They are our fellow countrymen who…

Ever get stuck in a rut? Maybe a pattern of self-repeating, self-defeating behavior? Nah, I didn’t think so. All kidding aside, getting to that place where you can’t see the forest for the trees (or is it the trees for the forest… I can never remember) is…

One of the most important lessons from the Bible is how we give is just as important as what and why we give. Motivations, means, and methods are all equally important aspects to Stewardship. This post is about one of methods: the undesignated gift. I…

Hello, Everyone: Thank you for reading MillennialSteward.com. Recently, I’ve not been posting as much as I did over the winter, and I wanted to fill you in on what’s going on. First, I’ve been uber-busy. Mrs. Jones has been working through her PhD…

Maundy Thursday. I honestly did not know what this was until I googled it. This is the day that many Christian traditions practice the Washing of Feet and Almsgiving (“maundy” possibly coming from either ‘mendicare, to beg, or ‘mandatum, to command).…

It must be Spring. Temperatures here in north Texas have shifted from freezing to mid-70s in a little under 3 weeks. But that’s not why I said “it must be Spring.” It must be Spring because everywhere I look, I see life thawing out. I see papers…

We all need a bit of encouragement each day. This world pulls us down. Wars and rumors of wars are nothing new. Scandal, fraud, and deceit are part of the human condition. It’s easy to get stuck on the bad things going on. But thankfully, the will of men…

Hello everyone, Sorry for the delay in posting; the past few weeks have eaten at my time in unexpected ways. Somehow I had forgotten what the end of a semester is like. Though, I’m not taking classes at the moment, we are still a student family. That eats…

We know how absurd our claims sound. The Son of God was born human, lived a perfect life, dead a substitutionary death on the behalf of sinful mankind, and was raised to bodily life three days later, and now sits at the right had of the Father in glory.…

It’s Holy Week. It’s supposed to be a time of reflection leading to celebration. Yet I don’t “feel” holy. I feel human. I feel mundane. It feels quite the opposite of holy. Far from being set apart, I feel quite absorbed. Ever feel the same? With two days…

J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings is a fantastic character study. I don’t just mean a study of characters and character development. I’m talking about actual character. I often reread LOTR with a view toward how certain characters respond to the…

Introduction
I am a Raiser's Edge DBA in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area studying and practicing stewardship and discipleship. I spend the bulk of my time working, studying, reading, and generally enjoying more coffee than I should. As a Millennial, I seek to engage my generation beyond causes to a lifetime of Christian discipleship and service.
Education
  • Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
    MDiv, Steward Leadership, 2009 - 2014
Studying the standard ministry set with a special emphasis in Steward Leadership. This includes such awesomeness as the History and Traditions of Steward Leadership, Nonprofit Development and Resource Development, and Church and Family Finances.
  • Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary
    MDiv, 2006 - 2008
I fell in love with the Old Testament.
  • University of Arkansas
    BA, English, 2001 - 2005
I learned how to read, write, make up words, bulls-eye bad grammar, and teach technology systems to pre-professionals.
