Spent a great Saturday night getaway at the hotel. Nice room and close to the Fisherman's Wharf area. Great breakfast! Try the French Toast if you stay. Yummy!

This hotel had a lot of charm even though the buildings were a little old. It was clean and had everything we needed. The staff was super nice. I ranked it with four stars simply because I could hear everything that was going on outside. The good thing though is that it is in an area where there was not a lot of people walking through so the noise that I was hearing were other residents who where unloading their luggage. I would go there again.

Cons (regarding room 295): • We received two full sized beds. Went to request a change for a single king sized bed and front desk did not attempt to look at their system and were told immediately they were booked solid through the weekend. Echoing another complaint on Yelp. • For a 3.5 rated hotel, our room had a 30 year old CRT TV. Menu didn’t even contain a Sleep option. • For this highly rated hotel, the room and bathroom are very small. Bathroom has very little shelf space. What little shelf space that was available was cluttered with paper, cups, toilet paper, towels, sundries, etc. • Safe in the closet was broken. Called front desk to have it repaired. No one came. • After spending a full day out, came back to find that our room was not serviced. We did not leave a tag on the door or cards on the bed. Had to call the front desk at night to request fresh towels. • Walls, windows, floors are paper thin. We can hear the neighbor snoring. Again, for a 3.5 rated hotel, I would not expect this. • At checkout, after spelling out all the issues, the front service was very apologetic but could only offer free breakfast and no discount off our stay. Unfortunately, we were on our way out. I get the feeling if we pressed the issue and met with a manager we would have received compensation. Pros: • We’re wanderers and this hotel provided easy walking distance down historic Alvarados street, the wharf, and Cannery Row. If you have a condition that doesn’t allow you to walk, this hotel would not be ideal. • Front face of entrance, lobby, eating patio, and fitness area are beautiful. • Fitness center offered fuji and granny smith apples, water, and towels. • Lobby offered the apples as well as flavored water. • Staff is genuinely nice and apologetic.

I am very appreciative of you taking the time to review your most recent stay with us. Though I am delighted to hear about your kind regard for our staff and location, I was disappointed to find out that your stay was less than enjoyable. Regarding your room, when booking with our reservations team directly they do confirm and guarantee the room type that was reserved, however, when booking through a third party this is not always the case. I apologize that this may have led to disappointment upon arrival, as we were all booked and had less flexibility. As you noted, our lobby, spa, restaurant, and meeting rooms have all been updated recently and we will begin guest room renovations this October. In the scope of the renovation plans we will be installing all new insulation and double pane windows to reduce noise transmissions. We will also install all new furniture including flat screen televisions. I can assure you that I have passed on your feedback to our front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance managers for review. Please do not hesitate to contact our reservations department directly as they are always eager to help our guests book the very best rooms to accommodate their needs. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future to experience all the upcoming changes firsthand. We hope that you will be pleased with the final product. Sincerely, Randy Venard General Manager

Cute little Spanish mission style hotel in a great location that is walking distance to great restaurants and shops. We wanted to avoid the really touristy and cheesy cannery area and this is it. The heated pool and happy hour with an outdoor fire were appreciated since it was cool during our visit. Rooms are smaller since its a historic hotel but they are very well appointed. All of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

Very clean room and excellent front desk service. Be warned, the bathroom water came out brown at first but after running for a minute it was fine. Walking to really delicious restaurants on nearby Alvarado was easy.

Very nice, clean rooms with a great view in any direction. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable beds and the gas fireplace is a nice addition. I would come back any time I have to be in Monterey.
