Racial Disparity in US Prisons - Any chance this about income/class and not race?

I think the part of this that won't go away is the later in life subsidy
without representation. If you tell me that doing a thing will cause me
pain and I do it, feeling pain, there's a point at which you (as a fellow
human, friend, or relative) feel the need to step in and assist. Sadly, our
government doesn't allow that time to pass so the person has a chance to
experience the results, they step in with your money and mine and pay to
correct the consequences of decisions by overeaters, non-exercisers,
smokers, and other risk-takers using tax dollars they receive from you and
I. Hence, the argument that there is an actual victimless crime is a bit
difficult to make.

I would suggest the marijuana falls into that category when I am impacted
by the complete idiocy, laziness, or other in/action of another human who
chose to kill his/her brain cells. It's also "against the law" in case
there needs to be an additional reason for folks not to indulge.

Perhaps we could invent drug-users insurance. Force them to self-report and
pay an extra $100 per month and then use all the drugs they want. Then, no
matter what happens to them that resulted from the drug use, the insurance
covers it. Hang on, let me fire off a memo to the President and his press
secretary. He smoked just enough to think that these folks would a) pony up
$100/month and b) self-report.

Introduction
I prefer to be called Carter, though I have grown accustomed to answering to most any variation that remains respectful.
I learned from the UPS manual that a leader does not need to remind others of authority by use of title. Knowledge, performance, and capacity should be adequate evidence of position and leadership.

One night down, one night to go. Arrived before midnight. Had a smooth check in, and the room appeared nice and clean. In the front part of the suite, noise from the common area easily comes under the door. The strange music and sounds of the elevator are quite noticeable. Those noises don't make it to the sleeping area, thankfully. Was unpleasantly awakened at 3:30 AM with a scheduled wake up call. Thought it was a prank, as I haven't requested a wake up call in decades. Got back to sleep after a bit. The occupant in the room above then found it to be acceptable behavior to crank up the volume on the news in the sleeping room about 530. There are two televisions in the suite, for Pete's sake. Still here the strange music in the front room. Great breakfast, includes the option of made to order.

This company reminds me of a payday loan business. I had been receiving supplies from them for a year and got the robocall asking if I wanted more. I confirmed that I did. After 2-3 weeks of wondering, I called and spoke with a representative who said the delay was fixed. Again no shipment after 2-3 weeks. I called once more and received the same response. Exasperated, I contacted my doctor to change subscriptions. Within 2 weeks, guess what showed up at my door! The original shipment. I had received packages that contained the wrong items before and when I took them to the local office I was told they would appreciate it if I could bring in the package without opening it. This was one of those instances. I brought the package in and gave it to the woman on the right (there are two desks, it's Regina or something similar). She turned and put it by her printer behind her and assured me she would complete the return. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill for those items a month later. I called and she told me it would catch on the next cycle and not to worry about it. Not long after that I was contacted by someone at the corporate office who suggested I needed to pay my bills. I told her I hadn't received one and explained the above. She rudely confirmed my address and said I should receive an invoice with other unpaid items. It came the following day -- over $100 in unpaid (unbilled) items. I called and paid for all but the shipment I returned. A month or so later, I received another bill. Nothing showed the return. I called the local office and "Regina" told me she didn't remember the transaction but would clear my records. I have received at least 3 more calls since then and made the same number of visits attempting to speak with a supervisor each time. Coincidentally, they are always busy. The next visit to this office will be with the police, as we clearly have a theft of over $50 in medical merchandise that occurred at that office. The rest of the story? The reason all the early calls resulted in no shipment? My guess is that the prescription hadn't been renewed (it had been about a year). Why then, would it have shipped after the prescription was sent to another provider? Run from this company!

I had a couple things that needed work, including a dripping shower. I was told they ordered a part and would come back after it arrived. It's been months - still dripping - not so Elite in my book. Good thing we settled before he left or I'd still owe the $100 plus per hour I was honored to pay.

Their coffee was great and the atmosphere, too. Unfortunately they are not there anymore and the website is gone. Another non-Starbucks bites the dust. Check out the Coffee Beanery about 1/2 mile West of there on Hwy 96 across from the Chophouse.

Awesome service!!! Called them after patiently waiting for 2 of the hottest weeks of 2012 for another HVAC company to get back to me (was prepared to pay cash and not shop the price). Heritage called same day I inquired online and sent someone out to estimate. Installed a new system the next business day (heard from the other company the next week)! My new favorite for Heating and Air-conditioning!

What a great source for locally-grown, fresh, healthy, and affordable vegetables, fruit, meat, coffee, and many other things. Take a Saturday morning and add a trip to the Farmers' Market - start the day and weekend off right! My favorite farmers are at the Flying-S booth. Stop by and tell Ben & Catherine hello!
