Dear Followers

By now you should have noticed that there is a great new Google+ feature: Collections. A feature I was waiting for since my first post on Google+ and a feature that - in my opinion - will revolutionize the usage of Google+.

I know that many of you are following me for my photography work. However I have also many other interests and since the majority of you is only interested in my photography I refrained very often from posting unrelated stuff since I didn't want to bore the majority of my followers and fill their stream with stuff they're not interested in.

Now with collections this changes. Please visit my collections at https://plus.google.com/u/0/+CarstenSchlipf/collections and pick the collection you're interested in.

Be warned! In case you are only interested in my photos you will see more posts that are not related to photography in the future. If you don't want to see these, pick one of the current collections:

Photography:
Photos I have created.

Photography Stuff:
Everything that is related to photography, like tutorials, photography gear, imaging software and so on.

Ranting on miscellaneous stuff.:
Things that upset me. Stuff you probably don't want to see, but that I couldn't resist to post.

No collection set:
Either posts where I simply forgot to set the correct collection or anything else that might bore you to death.

Simply click on 'Follow' to follow a collection or on 'Following' to unfollow a collection.

Have fun!

... which is an entirely different story, +Diana Boyd. While I like collections, I am not too happy with Google Photos.

Hello

Simply put swallows are my most favorite birds. I am constantly amazed by their elegant flight artistry and their speed while catching flies in flight.

I'd really love to catch one while flying, but haven't managed that yet. Either they are way too fast or the AF of my 6D is just too slow.

(Almost no) Depth of Field

In case you're looking for the lens in the details: The parameters shown in the EXIF are bogus ones that are reported by the adapter.

The Wanderer

Didn't expect that it will be so hard to catch an ant, but boy! These are fast! Especially in combination with a shallow DoF of a macro lense. However finally I've caught this little guy, backlit by the sun.

So what this article tells me is that LR 6.1 is essentially the same as LR CC, however Adobe hides just some sliders to make people think, that LR CC offers more value. Right?

TLDR; Adobe is kidding you.
When Adobe launched a major Creative Cloud update that brought the powerful new Dehaze slider to Lightroom CC, photographers who had purchased a standalone

Because their business strategy is extremely customer hostile. And there are more and more signs that LR6 could be the last standalone version.

Public Imagery in EU in Danger

16. Considers that the commercial use of photographs, video footage or other images of works which are permanently located in physical public places should always be subject to prior authorisation from the authors or any proxy acting for them;

This means that you will have to ask for permission of any building/sculpture/art that is visible in your photographs before publishing them in a commercial context. Want to publish your photo in a book (e.g. Plus One Collection)? On a website that is sponsored with ads? Want to use a photo from a public space to promote your business? - You will have to ask for permissions should this bill pass.

This is the case in France today already, however the EU parliament wants this for all countries of the EU.

Read the article and spread the word!

UPDATE: There is an online petition. Sign it! https://www.change.org/p/european-parliament-save-the-freedom-of-photography

I suspect that it is like many French laws - bring them in, expect everybody else to also bring them in and obey them but ignore them yourselves, e.g. France has had laws against smoking in public places, even outdoors, for years but I have seen a Frenchman smoking over the meat counter in the supermarket without anybody commenting.
