Lost in Venice

Actually the best thing that can happen to you there: Allow yourself to get lost and avoid the tourist spots. There is much more to see in the narrow alleys than at the crowded spots.

A good and practical summary of composition rules. Pick your favorites and ignore the rest ;-)
There are no unbreakable rules when it comes to how you should compose your photographs. After all, who likes rules except for your old school principal or

Current State of the new +Google+

Here is an update of this older post:
- Resolved: You need more clicks for every simple task like plusing a post.
- Resolved: No more reply.
- STILL MISSING: No more zooming into pictures. In the meanwhile even Instagram added this.
- Resolved: No more GPS locations in the details.
- STILL MISSING: When posting pictures you no longer can select an album for the picture. WTF!!!! And you still cannot move photos to albums later without breaking picture in the G+ update.
- Resolved: Picture uploading using drag and drop works again. However there is no visual feedback, when the UI is ready to accept the dropped file.
- CHANGED You personal profile information is now accessible through the ABOUT link on your profile page. Extended information can be seen in G+ now.
- Resolved: You can no longer move existing posts to collections.
- STILL MISSING: Where are the events? Does Google really want to kill all these photowalks, +Drink and Click™ events, and competitions that use Events as a workaround to collect the pictures? UPDATE: Events will die. See https://support.google.com/a/answer/7017428 under 'Functional Changes'
- NEW: Date on picture details does not show capture time, but the time the picture was uploaded to G+. In general I am much less interested, when a picture was uploaded.
- NEW: You can no longer navigate next/back to other pictures in the same album. But maybe that is just in line with the death of the picture albums on G+.

After all there is progress at least, but it still lacks some very essential features. So I am still staying with the old version.

To make it short:
- You need more clicks for every simple task like plusing a post.
- No more reply.
- No more zooming into pictures.
- No more GPS locations in the details.
- When posting pictures you no longer can select an album for the picture. WTF!!!!
- No more picture uploading using drag 'n' drop. You need to use the old-school file selector dialog.
- You personal profile information is now hidden behind the (i) icon on your profile page. However extended "About me" personal information is gone.
- You can no longer move existing posts to collections.
- Where are the events?
Well, it's here. The new G+. I want to love it, but the truth is that I don't. It's not polished. It's not ready. The User Interface (UI) is smooth and pretty and is the epitomy of material design, but the User Experience (UX...

So true
I’m like a lot of photographers. I want to shoot more often. And one big reason I don’t shoot as much as I like is that I waste too much time reading about

+Carsten Schlipf yes, I agree, but I was responding to his admission that he nevertheless scrolls through gear-for-sale listings on a regular basis. Craigslist, maybe? I don't remember what listings exactly he mentioned, but I don't even do that! So when it comes to starting to look for a lens, I hardly know where to turn to get a good buy!

Moserhof

If you plan to visit Carinthia in Austria (the country with no kangaroos living in the wild) I wholeheartedly can recommend the Landgut Moserhof for your stay (https://www.landgut-moserhof.at/). They offer a wide variety of accomodations. From beautiful bed rooms in the farmhouse to luxurious 3-bedroom chalets in a small village up to a variety of alpine cabins.

The picture shows two of the chalets in the village.

So +Google+ startet to add features that are exclusive to the new Google+, where you still cannot post a picture to an album however and still cannot move a picture to an album without breaking the link to G+ :-(

Does this mean, posting to albums will never come back, which in the end means that albums are dead for us G+ers?

BTW: Just tried to simply share an picture from Google Photos from an album. But sharing from Google photos creates just another copy in Photos from Posts. Can this copy madness please stop????

Now that you can add images, links, and (most importantly) GIF's to your comments, here's a +1 GIF to use for all those times the +1 button alone just doesn't cut it.

To save this GIF, drag it to your desktop or right-click and 'Save As'. You can then attach it to any comment you wish.

Alone

We have no future
heaven wasn't made for me
we burn ourselves to hell
as fast as it can be
and I wish that I could be a king
then I'd know that I am not alone

Maggots put on shirts
Sell each others shit
sometimes I feel so worthless
sometimes I feel discarded
I wish that I was good enough
then I'd know that I am not alone

- Marilyn Manson

Listen to this amazing cover of my favorite song by Marilyn Manson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDLNYI-mKsQ

Thanks Google for still not offering the simple possibility to move a photo to an album after posting :-( - reposted therefore.

Lost in Another World:
Soulmates?

In another world they could have become a couple.

Announcing my Lost in Another World project

What do you do, when you enjoy street photography, but are too much of a pussy to shoot strange people you never met before right in the face? Answer: You start a pussy-shooter street photography project.

In this series I shoot people, when they seem to be lost in another world and forget everything around them in public spaces.

More shots from this project on my photo blog at http://www.aperturized.com/albums/lost-in-another-world/
