I've been honored to work closely alongside +Rethink Homelessness and see the progress being made. Now, seeing the lives being changed... it all just becomes so much more real. This is an uplifting Friday watch from a great organization... hope you enjoy.

You Are Not Alone.

A thread of link clicks on +Wil Wheaton's blog got me to this profound campaign by NAMI: (possible trigger warnings for those affected by such)

Take a look. And spread the word.

Alan Rickman is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors I will ever work with. He is also, one of the loyalest and most supportive people I've ever met in the film industry. He was so encouraging of me both on set and in the years post-Potter. I'm pretty sure he came and saw everything I ever did on stage both in London and New York. He didn't have to do that. I know other people who've been friends with him for much much longer than I have and they all say "if you call Alan, it doesn't matter where in the world he is or how busy he is with what he's doing, he'll get back to you within a day".

People create perceptions of actors based on the parts they played so it might surprise some people to learn that contrary to some of the sterner(or downright scary) characters he played, Alan was extremely kind, generous, self-deprecating and funny. And certain things obviously became even funnier when delivered in his unmistakable double-bass.

As an actor he was one of the first of the adults on Potter to treat me like a peer rather than a child. Working with him at such a formative age was incredibly important and I will carry the lessons he taught me for the rest of my life and career. Film sets and theatre stages are all far poorer for the loss of this great actor and man.

Cardboard Stories at Christmas

In July 2013, +Rethink Homelessness introduced the world to the real stories of some of the many homeless people who lived on the streets of Orlando.

I'm proud, and deeply touched, to see that two years later, we're able to celebrate stories of some of the many people who have been housed for the first time in years.

Please, please -- share. There IS a solution to homelessness. And it starts with each and every one of us standing up and telling our leaders "our people deserve better."

It's #domesticviolenceawarenessmonth , and I adore this powerful post from +Katherine Kotaw talking about how she and her daughters have built their new lives and found new strength in their "girl gang." It's an important message worth hearing, for everyone.
The man who tried to kill me called the other day.

At least I think it was him. It was his name on the caller ID, and the voice sounded vaguely familiar.

But the sing-song, taunting timbre (think Jack Nicholson’s “Here’s Johnny” from The Shining) was absent.

The mocking voice that tormented my waking hours while I lived with him?…That made me hyperventilate at the sound of a ringing telephone during the years when he stalked me? …That invaded my dreams long after my daughters and I went into hiding to escape from a reputed hit man?

That’s not the voice I heard when I listened to a message left on +KOTAW Content Marketing's answering machine at 6:20 a.m. September 28th.

It was Kelsey’s birthday and the day before the 15th (or so) airing of the +Lifetime movie Run For Your Life, based on my memoir, Quicksand: One Woman’s Escape From The Husband Who Stalked Her.

The man on the phone was nervous, his words halting and the tone effeminate. He was clearly reading from a script, and I think he was terrified someone would pick up the phone.

With good reason.

If any member of my #KOTAWGirlGang  had answered the call from the man I presume to be my former abusive husband, he likely would have done the same thing he did when he was served divorce papers at his place of work two decades ago: peed his pants.

And, by the time he finished listening to what any of us had to say to him, I’d bet my next book royalty check that he’d have made an even smellier mess in his boxer shorts.

While his voice has weakened, ours have grown strong beyond measure.

Our words would deafen him, not because of their volume but because of their intent.

And any conversation would be brief. Our message is succinct:

We are done with you.

I am sharing this blog during #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth     with all of you because I hope you will share my message of HOPE after domestic abuse.

Domestic violence thrives on silence, so the more we share our stories, the more we all speak up, the more we do to take the taboo out of a topic that is too often shoved under the rug.

Please share this blog to help my daughters and me deafen #domesticabuse  using the hashtag #WeAreDoneWithYou .

Together, we can start a conversation about domestic violence and say #NOMORE  to men who control women with fists, weapons, emotional blackmail, mind games, sleep deprivation, isolation, financial ruin and myriad other tactics because they’d rather be feared than loved.

Thank you so much for your support.  Let's see if we can get the hashtag #WeAreDoneWithYou  trending!

Fun with the Google Deep Dream Generator

We all know that photography is fun on its own, and beautiful pictures are inspirational -- but what images lie within those photos?

I got tipped off to the Google Deep Dream generator by +Greg Trujillo  and started having some fun with it this morning. These were some of the better photo results. Most of the original photos are by +Thomas E. Hanna |, my sister +Kate Capern, and +Tammy Strobel from the Rowdy Kittens blog.

The purpose of the Google Deep Dream generator (from the website):

Google has spent the last few years teaching computers how to see, understand, and appreciate our world. It's an important goal that the search giant hopes will allow programs to classify images just by "looking" at them.

And this is where Google's deep dream ideas originate. With simple words you give to an AI program a couple of images and let it know what those images contain ( what objects - dogs, cats, mountains, bicycles, ... ) and give it a random image and ask it what objects it can find in this image. Then the program start transforming the image till it can find something similar to what it already knows and thus you see strage artifacts morphing in the dreamed image ( like eyes or human faces morphing in image of a pyramid ).

Generate your own "deep dream" images:

Should I Be On Every Social Network?

Believe it or not, there are still lots of people in the world who are only just taking their first baby steps on to social media.

When you are still in that stage, it's easy to get overwhelmed...easy to feel like you need to be everywhere at once.

When everyone around you seems to be jockeying for spots on shiny new social networks, should you do the same?

I'm delighted today to have had this blog post shared by +Convince & Convert -- be sure to follow along as +Wade Harman's Evil Twin has taken over the page!

Every Social Network?
As my first official share as Evil Wade on the C&C G+ page I thought I would show you a post that I think deserves more attention and this one comes from +CT Social authored by my good friend +Carolyn Capern that talks about whether or not you should be on every social network.

Granted, there will be more crazy people like me that you have to deal with, but is it good for your business?

If you want to be included in the free giveaways that I will be doing throughout the day, let me know that you want to be included in the Convince & Convert Blog Notification circle.  With that, you will never miss a post that comes across the C&C blog.  They will send you a notification here on G+ and in your email.  Let me know in the comments because I've got some cool stuff to give away today!

Pre Order Your Copy!
Today you can pre order a copy of The Relationship Manifesto due out later this year!  This book will show you everything I have learned to date on the Relationship marketing process and how a theory I had over 4 years ago, where you can build a successful business without knowing anything technical, is proving true to this day!

Click here to see the pre order page:

This has been a long time coming, I've stayed up late, woke up early and labored over this thing.  The best thing about it is that I'm learning it all over again as I jot things down.  The best thing about building any kind of business is the people.  If you can win the people, then you can do anything online!

Take a look and pre-order your copy today!
