Watching the latest round of gotcha between Google and Amazon, I am starting to feel like a step-child caught in the middle of divorcing parents. I understand that if Google gives Amazon an in, it would allow them to grow their Amazon app store user base on the back of Google Play. I understand that Amazon is trying to widen its product base and sees Google as its Goliath to slay.
But, they both need to come to terms with the reality that we are a society of multiple platform, multiple device users. Many people walk around with an Amazon Fire tablet, a Google Chromebook, and an Apple iPhone. Stop requiring that we choose sides. It frustrates your user base, makes lemming-like fan boys, and pits family members against each other.
At the end of the day, I want to be able to watch my Amazon Prime Instant Video on my Nexus 7 tablet. It doesn't mean I prefer one over the other. It means that right now, these are the tools I am using. In 6 months or a year, when it comes time to replace a device or re-up a membership, I am going to make choices based on my experiences with each company, weighed against the other products/choices in the marketplace.
Hey Google and Amazon, is that so hard to understand?

- For Your Family StoryFounder & CEO, 2010 - presentI can help you find your ancestors!
As a genealogist, a family historian, a writer, and a blog author, I've been blogging stories about my ancestors since 2009 on Family Stories. Additionally, I've been having epic results combining family history, genealogy, technology, research services, tutorials, and videos on my blog 4YourFamilyStory.com.
When I'm not blogging about dead people, coaching others on how to use technology to find dead people, or researching other people’s dead people, I can usually be found in an antique store searching for letters, post cards, tickets, photos, books, etc. once owned by people who are now dead.
