Wow... Very special moment I am sure!
ICYMI: Paramedics in Oceanside got a special visit Monday from the baby boy they helped bring back to life.

Zavier Pestana didn't have a pulse and wasn't breathing when he was born seven weeks early in an ambulance in December, but EMTs performed CPR and were able to resuscitate him.

It's visually a beautiful hotel. And that's about it. We arrived a couple of hours early. They wouldn't let us experience their 4-star luxury until precisely, exactly 4 p.m. on the dot. They kept pretending to look at their computer to see if their luxurious hotel staff had cleaned our luxurious room. This they said to weary travelers with 3 little kids who had just driven for 6 hours straight. For $200 A NIGHT we got a room so small that there was nowhere to sit but on the two queen beds (there were 5 of us - two parents, 3 kids). Our luggage had to go on top of & under the chairs, the table & the nightstand just so we could walk to & from the bathroom. If you sat on the end of the bed & simply extended your arm you could touch the TV! What difference does it make if the sardine can is pretty? It's still a sardine can! We realize now our big mistake was booking on the hotel website. But isn't that a normal process these days? Who would think that a luxury hotel would be so backward - or sneaky - to withhold rooms, or not have a properly working website that would route a family of 5 to the appropriate-size room??? When we asked this question we were told by the front desk clerk that the hotel website does not make all their rooms available on the website so when the drop-down fields ask you to input the number & ages of people for the room it will not automatically filter your request & route you to the appropriate-size room. That's right. In fact, the clerk said only FOUR rooms out of their available TEN are available on their website. The other, larger, rooms have to be requested by phone! Who would know that??? So because there were 5 of us & only room for 4 in the beds we had to take turns sleeping on the FLOOR - ON VACATION. We asked for a rollaway bed. That would be $5 extra per night but not in our room because THEY SAID IT WAS TOO SMALL & A FIRE HAZARD! Luxury. Yeah. So luxurious that there wasn't even a microwave in the room. Even the cheapest dive hotels in Phoenix have microwaves. Carlsbad Inn couldn't swing that little bit of luxury in their luxury hotel? And the coffeemaker? A Keurig with 3 - THREE - pods -- for FOUR DAYS for $200 a night. Then there were the luxurious hotel staff members who woke us up at 3:47 IN THE MORNING talking & laughing loudly right outside our door, the luxurious door which had such wide gaps all around it that the luxurious hallway light poured through it & you could hear people breathing on the other side of it let alone loudly talking about that day's luxurious laundry schedule! Oh, and let's talk about the "awesome" (according to the front desk clerk) Sunday breakfast which consisted of - drum roll please - luxurious mini muffins & donuts, dry bagels & packets of cream cheese & canned orange juice. I don't know how much of that kind of luxury I could take. For $200 a night. In the end, it's our fault, our responsibility. We assumed the hotel website would give us an appropriate-size room. We assumed that a luxury hotel would have a microwave in their rooms. We assumed we wouldn't have to ask for extra coffee pods. But as Felix Unger said, "When you a-s-s-u-m-e you make an a-s-s out of -u and -me."

I just returned from a week stay and it was amazing. It is the perfect place to stay...truely. The room was so nice, the buildings and grounds were so beautiful. It was so easy to check out bikes, towels, beach chairs. It is in walking distance for shopping and a lot of restaurants. We cooked on the barbeques there 2 nights which was great. I noticed that grounds workers were always upgrading, fixing or painting something everday to keep the place looking nice. I loved it so much that my office team and I will be coming back next year for a weeks stay. I cant wait to share this amazing place with them. Thank you so much Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort Cathy
