DON’T CARE, STILL LOVE MY E-READER.
There is something so tantalizingly minimal about reading on an e-reader. I had one of the original Kindles, and remember loving it, but it being a bit cumbersome, not only to turn pages, but to highlight and make notes. Also, the old e-readers didn’t have built-in lights, which makes them as hard to read as a paperback at night. I know this sounds weird, but I don’t like reading by lamplight.. it hurts my eyes. But the new breed of e-readers have built-in lights that glow softly (you can adjust) without being the “blue light” that’s so disruptive to our sleep rhythms. All that, plus the new touchscreens, small and slimmer form factors and book-buying ease have made my return to e-reading so fun… and I’ve been reading more before bed as a result.

WOULD A MINIMALIST PHONE HELP YOU BREAK YOUR SMARTPHONE ADDICTION?
The good old days, when a phone was a phone are long gone. Our smartphones are not just a mobile connection to our sitter, spouse and kids, they’re our mobile office, our camera, our weather report, our GPS and more. Plus, as we’ve been learning more and more, they’re especially crafty and vying for (and consuming) our attention, and creating smartphone addiction in the best of us.

That’s why I’m a huge fan of the Light Phone. The original came out a few years back via a Kickstarter campaign (I backed them), but now the second generation is here, called the Light Phone 2, and it’s blowing up on IndieGogo.

WILL THESE TECHY PAJAMAS HELP YOU SLEEP BETTER?
The fact that your body temperature plays a role in how well you sleep probably doesn’t come as a surprise. Who hasn’t been woken up during the night by sweaty sheets (ew, gross) or half-way freezing and in need of another blanket?

So when I heard about Celliant, a techy fabric that promises to take care of regulating your core body temperature so you sleep soundly ‘til morning, I was intrigued.

WOULD YOU TRY THESE AT-HOME MEDICAL TESTS?
Gone are the days where an in-person doctor’s appointment is the only way to meet your medical needs. Instead of wasting time waiting out an appointment—or in the waiting room—more and more medical tech companies are offering at-home alternatives, allowing you to take a personalized and DIY approach to your health. One the one hand, it’s an affordable way to get personalized, not generalized information about what’s going on in your body. On the other hand, how accurate are they? Will they tell you things you don’t want to know? And what should you do with all that information when you get it?

Would you try any of these at-home tests? These four are getting lots of buzz.

KICK YOUR PHONE OUT OF BED AND USE THESE GORGEOUS ALARM CLOCKS INSTEAD
It’s a bad habit that made its way to our bedside approximately ten years ago with the arrival of the first iPhone: Replacing our everyday (and single-purpose) alarm clock with our multi-tasking smartphone.

It made perfect sense at the time. One single device to accept phone calls, check email and receive a gentle (ringtone-like) alert when it was time to spring out of bed? Not to mention that alarm clocks are hard to adjust and set— the phone was so much easier.

Fast forward to now when we’re so dependent on our phone that the notifications (and constant beam of blue light) is not only affecting the quality of our shuteye, it’s altering our melatonin production and circadian rhythm. Yikes.

The solution? A return to the good old-fashioned alarm clock we used to know and love. But here’s the fun part: Alarm clocks have undergone a makeover since we last placed them on our nightstand. Here, four to consider investing in now.

NEVER GETTING OUT OF BED THANKS TO THIS ECO-FRIENDLY COMFORTER
Sleep: It’s both blissful and, at times, hard to come by depending on what you’re ruminating on. My current comforter was great at keeping me warm, being soft and fluffy and making falling into bed a glorious thing. Or so I thought… because apropos of Earth Day, along came Buffy and I’ve never been the same.

Buffy is a chemical-free, hypo-allergenic comforter that is fluffy-with-a-capital-EFF and much gentler on the skin than your average cotton bedding. It’s made from a natural eucalyptus shell fabric that is both cooling and hypo-allergenic. Combine that with a super-soft weave (320 for all you thread count nerds), and it’s the height of cozy comfort and planet-and-animal friendliness.

HOW TO TRAVEL LIKE A LEGIT VIP
Getting out of town—for business or pleasure— is the best. But how you get to your destination and experience it once you arrive can make or break each and every trip. I haven’t tried all these service that let you travel like a VIP, but the ones I have tried are divine— it’s all about access to luxury without having a Tom-and-Gisele-sized wallet.

FOUND! THE BEST KEY FINDERS AND TRACKERS OF 2018
WHERE ARE MY KEEEEYS? On the front hall table? Back upstairs on my bathroom counter? Or did I leave them in my other purse??

Aaaandd, now I’m late.

Like many of you, I got tired of racing around the house looking for lost things. So I started looking into the best key finders and trackers for other items I tend to misplace, but they’re not all alike. So my team and I compared models— Tile vs. Chipolo vs. Trackr vs. Cube— with some basic tests. How well did they do? Read on.

DIVORCE GETS A HELPFUL TECH UPGRADE
It’s 2018, and there really aren’t many processes you can’t complete online. Apply for a mortgage, request DNA testing, get a master’s degree, file your taxes, buy a car, get literally anything delivered,,, now, you can also get divorced.

It seems kind of crazy that no one’s done tapped this market, given that roughly 50 percent of marriages end in divorce, but I’m not surprised that celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser was the one to figure it out. (She also happens to be a friend and an inspiring #ladyboss).

THIS ROBOT DUCK MELTED BY HEART AT CES 2018
Every year, I go to CES and expect to see a lot of amazing tech. Tech that makes a difference in the day-to-day lives of busy adults who are trying to find realistic—and high-tech—ways to live better (I mean, a suitcase that I don’t have to lug through the airport fits that bill for me). But this year, I came across something unexpected: The My Special Aflac Duck.
