Back to life…
I have a confession: While I had the most wonderful summer — personally, professionally, all of it — it’s the end of August and I’m not crying in my popsicle about how summer is almost over.

The app that turns your kid’s smartphone into a study group
StudyBlue is a crowdsourced learning platform that allows high school and college students to create their own on-the-go study materials and also borrow from and share with others who’ve taken the same classes all over the world.
If you’re like me, you’re likely often trying to limit your kid’s smartphone time (especially since the debut of Pokémon Go). But here’s one way to take advantage of that same small-screen obsessio…

Tech on Trend: Pom Poms
On my recent trip to Mexico, we stopped into a little town near our hotel called Sayulita. It had a great Malibu-meets-Mexico vibe, and we slurped melting lime paletas while wandering the streets. There were cute shops and street vendors selling pretty bracelets, dream catchers, bikinis and ponchos (many of which came home with me). At the end of one road, with the beach on the horizon, there was a stall that looked like a rainbow explosion— a million hand-made pom poms in garlands, wall hangings and bag charms.

The Smart New Gadget for Campers, Travelers, and Festival-Goers
GoTenna is a new device that is trying to solve those issues by connecting you to others, and allowing you to message and share your location with others who have the gadget whether there’s a signal or not. It bills itself as a “high-tech buddy system” and there are lots of situations, like the ones described above, where I could see it coming in really handy.
We’re so used to being constantly “connected” now that it can be frustrating when you see that “No Service” message at the top of your phone. But what if you’re lost o…

A Guide to Snapchat Filters: From Flower Crown to Face Swap
Snapchat Filters are silly, meaningless…and sooo much fun. I mean, can you think of a celeb or friend of yours who hasn’t yet posted a screenshot of their dog face (often with actual dog in the shot, of course)?

Surrogate
You and your family went to Maine on vacation. If I “like” your seaside posts on Facebook, does that mean we connected about it? If I double-tap the Instagram pic you took at a concert and leave a comment, is that a proxy for you sharing your experience with me over coffee?

A smart guide to smartphone and tablet parental controls
School supplies no longer consist of a few notebooks and pencils. As kids head back to class, many will be handed new smartphones and tablets. And while we all know how much they can enhance our kids’ learning experience, they’re also the passport to a digital world where kids can get into all kinds of trouble.

Should You Be Concerned About WiFi in Schools?
I know that the safety of my family’s exposure to Wifi at home is something I think about a lot— I imagine us all sleeping through the night, radiation swirling around our heads, and wonder if it’s causing harm.

The no-drama way to unfollow Facebook friends
Scrolling through your Facebook feed right now likely feels a little bit like navigating a political minefield—and do you really need to be stressed out by the crazy opinions of people you haven’t seen since high school? (Obvi you want to be exposed to different opinions, but there’s a difference between constructive conversation and constant unhinged social media rants, right?)

Pins Are the Latest Internet Fad— and These Are the Coolest
Instagram has a way of amplifying indie art. Just think of Donald Robertson’s fashionable giraffes or Banksy’s irreverent street art. The latest manifestation of that phenomenon is pins. (Bonus: it’s a wearable art trend!)

Everything you need to know about Facebook Live
I’m on live TV quite a bit, and while it can be a little unnerving (Helloooo, 4 million people!), there’s something so honest about the fact that viewers are in the moment with you, and when the camera stops rolling, you’re totally done. On the flip-side, people on the other side of the camera love that they get to see a real, anything-can-happen version of those they’re watching.

What You Really Need to Know About Pokémon Go
At this point, it may seem like everyone you know is either playing or talking about Pokémon Go — from your 6-year-old son to the professional, no-nonsense CEO of your company (really!).
