Have you heard about this cool new way to learn and share experiences? Check out Choir: The Million Skills Project.

Aside from the fact that I'm honored to be a part of this experience, it's a fantastic project. I hope you can help to support this new approach to sharing and learning. Lots of interesting folks to learn from.

C.

Is there a song that made you think to yourself, "I would like to hear a thousand different versions of that"? What is that song?

Ergh. Frustrating internet connection. Everything is cool until your internet goes down. #amirite?

Obligatory G+ post to connect with the hive.

Are you referring to the Hive NYC? Or was this before the Hive even existed...

That's 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back. No more slideshows of social media theories about G+. (When will I learn?)

Only by not using every aspect of software do you fight against it. Defaults can be psychological crevasses. For instance, I don't +1. It's not that I don't like or appreciate things, it's just that I don't believe that a limited binary appreciation really adds to a conversation. However, when I write +1 on some tweet or comment thread, I instantiate my individuality into (on to?) it by using the accepted semiotics at my disposal. I make my mark—with my own hand, as it were—using the available tools at hand.

Complicated, yes. But isn't that part of the beauty of being human?

It's a trip to go back and see what I wrote so long ago. How very much things change semantically and semiotically in 2 years. I won't even go into how I used to rail against the use of emoticons. ;)

I posted something somewhere else.

I know, can you believe it? There's an entire other world out there!

Although, I admit, it is about social networks. You can run, but you can't hide. Check it. wp.me/p1xFJw-9

And they're experiencing shorter and shorter lifecycles. Facebook is practically ancient at this point, right? Time to shake it all off and start over. Not repeat the same errors of the past. Not for a while at least. (That works for both user and network creator.)

Also, I'm glad you did reply. Thanks.

How some of you know others of you is deeply intriguing. This is a heliocentric view of the social network universe where I'm the sun. ;)

Dear Google,
Every time I log in to G+, I am greeted by an image of happy, young white people in a hangout.

Enough already.

Have you never heard of random image substitution? Because if that main pic—you know the one, the smiling blonde girl—is based on some data you've collected about me, well… um… hmmm.

Homophily is problematic. Let's just leave it at that.

And yes, I log in and out every time. It's my own security theater.

.
Homophily, serendipity, xenophilia. Filed under: Media, xenophilia :: There's been a small but fascinating blog conversation going on surrounding the term “homophily”. Journalism and media critic A...
