I suspected a negative effect on the Earth's albedo especially at high latitudes, as early as 1975, but, nobody takes a Seaman Apprentice seriously.
Then again if fallen wood just rots, termites and the rotting releases co2 or methane from cellulose digestion. Nothing but brick walls ahead.
