+David Archer MS has created so many incompatibilities and done such retarded shit to try to control the web they can't even be compatible with themselves.

My first experience as a web programmer I wrote an app to W3C spec. It was beautiful, and no modern browsers rendered it perfectly except konqueror. Which almost nobody used. So my boss told me it was junk and had to be redone.

I avoid web development whenever possible because its a sea of asshattery thats impossible to do right.

A handy new feature in Motorola's Moto Display

I noticed this while using the new Moto G this week: You can now see and control certain types of media playback from the bubble that pops up when you move or pick up your phone.

I've only seen it happen while Chromecasting from Netflix so far -- not even from YouTube -- but maybe broader support is on the way. And maybe, just maybe, the same feature will make its way to previous-gen Moto devices at some point as well (pretty please, +Motorola Mobility?).

Via my two-day Moto G journal: 48 hours with the new Moto G: How does this phone cost $180?! - http://computerworld.com/article/2954577

Users of iOS, beware. An unfixed vulnerability has been found in the Mail app, which allows hackers to steal passwords by sending an email.

Here's what you can do to deal with the much-talked-up "Stagefright" messaging vulnerability on Android

It has been somewhat overhyped from the look of it. Android has many layers of protection and this vulnerability manages to provide a potential buffer overflow, but to get code to actually execute is a lot more work due to various well-known tricks to protect against it, e.g. Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR). It's not at all uncommon for a buffer overflow to be unexploitable due to precautions against successful attacks and this looks like it'll only be exploitable on older releases of the OS (4.x) as they had less protection. However this doesn't make for good headlines.

Cocktail bar! Cocktail bar! LOL brilliant!
File under “so dumb it’s genius.” You Tuber svantana has reduced the lyrical content of Human League’s 1981 hit “Don’t You Want Me” to the catchiest and, perhaps, most thematically important line: “You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar.” The gist of the entire song boils down to that anyway, right? At 1:35 into the song Susan Ann Sulley takes up her half of the duet with Philip Oakey and responds “I was working as a waitress in a...

They made 25 million a year and didn't save any of it? Even with 19 kids, that's hard to spend, given their lifestyle.

Well, trade between the U.S. and Cuba is opening up again... maybe trade Florida for a bunch of their cool vintage cars from the 40s and 50s.
