“We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.” ― Dalai Lama XIV

If there’s one time of year that tests my ability to “do it all” it’s definitely the hectic back to school season.

When it’s time to get ready to go back to school, it helps me maintain my sanity when I confidently prepare and get organized. Going into the school year with a sense of clarity allows me and my children to start the school year off with an advantage.

It’s so important for me to be confident in my ability to manage it all by being prepared and organized. And it never hurts to treat myself to a new pair of shoes from +Famous Footwear to rock while I tackle the many back to school tasks.

"[Humanity] has unquestionably one really effective weapon—laughter. Power, money, persuasion, supplication, persecution—these can lift at a colossal humbug—push it a little—weaken it a little, century by century, but only laughter can blow it to rags and atoms at a blast. Against the assault of laughter nothing can stand." —Mark Twain #laughter #laughteristhebestmedicine

Regardless of whether you are living in a hut in Australia or in a cottage in the English countryside, if you have access to the internet, then you and your kids are at risk of being victims of cyberbullying, of witnessing someone being cyberbullied or of cyberbullying someone yourselves.

With 81% of young people saying that it is very easy to bully people online, it is no wonder that campaigns such as the Digital Avengers Cyberbullying Campaign are being created to educate parents and kids on how they can fight online trolls and keep victims safe from mental abuse.

As parents, we would never want to see our kids being victims of cyberbullying and neither would we want to know that our kids were the cause of someone else’s suffering by spreading lies online, sharing private content of the victim or having a laugh at the expense of someone else.

Happiness Is the Death of the Ego

"Happiness is threatening and misery is safe – safe for the ego. Ego can exist only in misery and through misery. Ego is an island surrounded by hell; happiness is threatening to the ego, to the very existence of the ego. Happiness rises like a sun and the ego disappears, evaporates like a dewdrop on the grass leaf.

"Happiness is the death of the ego. If you want to remain a separate entity from existence as almost everybody is trying to do, you will be afraid of being blissful, cheerful. You will feel guilty in being blissful. You will feel suicidal because you are committing suicide on the psychological level, on the level of the ego.

"It almost always happens that people enjoy a few moments and then afterwards feel very guilty. The guilt arises because of the ego. The ego starts torturing them, "What are you doing? Have you decided to kill me? And I am your only treasure. Killing me? You will be destroyed. Killing me is destroying yourself."

“It's not only children who grow. Parents do too. As much as we watch to see what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours. I can't tell my children to reach for the sun. All I can do is reach for it, myself.” ~Joyce Maynard

It’s unlikely that an amazing life just happens by chance. You can’t wish it into reality. You have to make it happen.

You must be intentional with how you spend your time, energy, and focus. Too many distractions, less important goals, and a shortage of resources can get in the way of living an amazing life. And the lack of a clear life vision (and goals that align with bringing that vision into reality) is perhaps the greatest obstacle that us busy moms face.

The good news is that these are challenges that can be solved…with a little effort of course.
