Major Cold Front puts fish in winter mode - Tampa Bay Fishing Reports
We had a major cold front on Monday and it was about time. Since this cold weather is supposed to stick around for the next two weeks, it's going to finally put the fish in their winter patterns and fire off the sheepshead bite. Right now the bait is still around which is a good thing, but sometimes when it gets really cold it can be hard to find when we get these big cold fronts, but that's ok. Wintertime is when I bring out the artificials for Trout, as well Snook and Reds I will have a livewell full of frisky shrimp for sheepshead and other species. But I really enjoy tossing artificials and wintertime is a great time to do that. The nice thing about wintertime fishing is you don't have to start out at daylight, and sometimes it's better to let the sun heat things up which is when the fish become more active. When we get these really cold temps in Tampa Bay the fish usually take a few days to adjust to the drop in water temps, but when they are ready to eat, we're ready to catch them.

Back to normal temps this time of year has the fish biting!
The bite has been outstanding the past 10 days and it should stay like this for a while.
Let’s talk Trout fishing; my clients are enjoying some nice trout to take home this time of year and the fish are good size, which makes for good fishing and good eating.
After we get some nice trout in the ice chest, I switch gears and go Snook fishing, and that too has been outstanding; we’ve even hooked into a few reds along the way.
Fall is a perfect time to fish Tampa Bay, as the water temps are in the right range for the fish to be active and feed more. They are entering their staging areas before it gets cooler in late December and January. Cooler temps in the morning make it very comfortable for the boat ride across Tampa Bay to the fishing grounds and you’re not having to deal with the heat while fishing like we do in August.
I’m on the water a few days this week, so stay tuned for another hopefully great fishing report for Tampa Bay.
Christmas is not far off, so if you’re looking to buy an Inshore Tampa Bay Fishing Trip for a family member, we have gift certificates available.

Tampa Bay Fishing Report
Well, Halloween is not far off, and people are going to the store to get their costumes and candy for the
little one's, but not me, I've been fishing a lot these past few weeks.

Lots of charters with happy anglers, because the Snook bite has been outstanding the past
weeks and it's only going to get better. We're supposed to get a cold front on Wednesday and it's
gonna fire up the fishing for sure. The bait might leave the the flats, but we'll just
have to see if it heads to the bridges once we get this cold front.

Let's talk redfish for a few; again, it's been very good as well and again, once this
cold front hits us, it's gonna turn on the redfish bite.

Fall is a great time to target big snook and lots of redfish. Cooler temps lower the
water temps which in turn gets the fish moving and feeding more.

Next month in November is also a great time to fish the flats for Snook and reds; the
water temps are usually in the lower 80's or upper 70's which is perfect for inshore fishing.

If you're heading to the Tampa Bay area or Clearwater - St Petersburg area, give me a shout
and we'll get you on the Triton and bend some rods.
Thanks for stopping by!

Tampa Bay Charter Inshore Fishing Report:

October is known for many things, cooler temps up north and usually here as well, pumpkin spice on the menu, and of course, lots of Redfish!!
October is a great month to target redfish and snook. The water gets cooler, making them feed more and the bait is very plentiful; it’s a win-win for everyone.
I’ve been out a few times over the past week and the fishing has been outstanding. Lots of slot reds, with a few over-slot mixed in. The snook are chewing the baits off the hooks and some are getting the best of us by taking us in the mangroves or rocks, but it’s still a blast seeing them slam our offerings.
Now that the weather is a lot more bearable, with cooler temps and less humidity, it’s time to start planning a fall fishing trip.
I’ve been guiding 15 years and promise you a professional trip with rods bending and smiles all around.
Take a look around my site and if I’m what you’re looking for in a light tackle Tampa Bay Fishing Guide, then give me a shout or send me an email.
Have a great day,
Capt. John Rivers
