There is something about a child wearing a fluffy jumper that I love. All the younger kids own them and it is like hugging a teddy bear when they are wearing them, so when I was offered the Joules Reversible Jumper from House of Fraser to review I just had to say yes! Reversible jumpers have changed somewhat since the awful bulky number I had as a child in the 80’s. This boys’ striped fleece has a reversible design meaning… Continue Reading "Joul...

Blog On Conference was first founded in 2012 by Laura who was frustrated that blog conferences were only ever held in London and it has since gone from strength to strength, increasing in popularity ever year as word gets out how good it is.

When it comes to wedding anniversary gifts, we all know it’s silver for 25 years and gold for 50 years but are these traditional gifts a thing of the past? I remember the excitement of buying a gold anniversary present for both mine and Hubby’s grandparents. We didn’t stretch to buying them gold ourselves and went for some personalised engraved glassware and a personalised porcelain plate, although we know they treated each other to something mor...

By the fourth week in January, most New Year’s resolutions have gone out of the window as the depressing reality of a long cold spell until summer arrives. Good job then, that PizzaExpress has launched a range of comforting and warming dishes, that you may well recognise from menus past, as well as exciting cocktails from January 3rd to get us through the season. The ‘new’ additions to the menu have all featured on the menu previously, but are ma...

Single working 40 year old with a slight obsession with crafting, cupcakes and shoes. Spend my time running round after a mini zoo of 11 & 12 year old kids, cats, rabbits and chickens
Introduction
As well as two Tweens The Boy (11) and The Girl (10) I have way to many animals to run around after meaning we should get zoo status soon.

In January 2013 I lost my Job with HMRC, a job which I used to love doing until health issues arose and I was made to feel uncomfortable, not wanted and worthless.  The stress of this made me even more ill.

In August 2012 I came to the conclusion things were never going to change and with my Doctor's support I told my Manager that I would not be coming back from Sick leave.  This pressure had been going on for about 2 1/2 years at this stage and when I finally said I wanted to go it took a further 5 months to complete the paperwork and provide me with a leave date in late January.  It took even longer for them to pay me the money I was owed.

Life was grim.  I was a disabled Single but well educated Mother who had always worked and I dreaded having to sit at home all day.  My pride would not allow me to sign on and receive benefits; I had worked too hard for that.  Instead I did the grown up thing and ran away to live at the seaside.

Late February 2013 I ran away with my 2 children to live by the sea and make a fresh start. We moved in to our very small 2 bed holiday cottage.  The sort of place so small you can't swing a mouse let a lone a cat.  The Boy and Girl changed schools and started to learn Welsh and I resurrected my Father's business that he ceased in early 2011 due to his ill health.

After lots of counting of stock and wiping the boxes clean ( 2 1/2 years in storage means a lot of dusty boxes) I opened our Wooden Toy Store, Lou Lou and Jim Jams Toys in March online and then set about finding business premises to run a shop from.  On 12th July 2013 our little toy shop opened.  I am so happy with how things are going but have plans and goals left to achieve with the business.

My Love of paper crafting, especially scrap booking and Project Life (oh how I love Project Life) has lead me to becoming an independent Stampin Up demonstrator too.  Please get in contact if you are interested in placing an order from or would like to get to know more about these wonderful products.

Life could not be better, well it could, My house in the Midlands could sell for a really nice price to enable me to buy a house here instead of living in a shoe box.

I can honestly say running away to live by the sea was the best decision I have ever made.  The only thing I question is why I did not do it sooner!

Life is good, real good.

August 2013

*Update April 2016

Due to health issues we have now relocated back to the Midlands.  It wasn't an easy decision but its something we had to do as a family.

The Boy is now 14 and The Girl is 12
