At first I was a little upset (not sarcasm--it was like mildly irked) over changes in plot. Then I read this from Buzzfeed (of all places!) "The shift should come as no surprise to some as Stephen King tweeted an image back in May, hinting that the film is set after the events within the novels." And now I am ashamed this interpretation didn't come to me. Bad Cameron. No cookie.

In other news I'm super-excited for The Dark Tower.
