A study published in Experimental Physiology and discussed in the NY Times recently actually found that performing high intensity interval training workouts (which are very similar to the structure of workout finishers) was vastly superior at improving physiological markers of overall fitness, including aerobic capacity, when compared to steady state cardio (your typical long, boring cardio).
So, workout finishers are awesome and if they aren’t a part of your fat loss program you’re missing out on a big chunk of your potential results.

After eating a fairly impressive amount of BBQ food at our end of season curling banquet, I've now lost 2 lbs in the last 24 hours.
I'm a big fan of "cheat days" or "splurge meals" because it helps you to be able to still enjoy your favorite foods while continuing to make progress with your fat loss.
The trick though, is not letting it slide into a "cheat week" or "cheat month". One day/meal. That's it. If you can't handle that, don't do it at all.
Also, don't weight yourself the day after your splurge meals because it won't be indicative of your actual weight.
The next day, get back to your normal eating plan (for me it was a 16 hour fast, a post workout Nutrimeal shake, chicken and salad, rice/beef/broccoli/coconut milk, plain greek yogurt/blueberries)
Make sure you get a solid workout in, preferably strength training of some kind with some heavy weights.
And BOOM! Within about 24-48 hours you're back at your normal weight, probably less a pound or so.
If you stick with me, you really can have your cake and eat it too.
