Hannaford-Camden Helps Fight Hunger with an Angel on The Register

When Hannaford Supermarkets launched their 2015 community giving program “Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger” I doubt they knew they had an angel named Denise working the register at their store in Camden, Maine. Denise, who lives in Lincolnville, has worked for Hannaford for almost 15 years and enjoys helping others in many ways. Selling $10 boxes full of food that go to the Camden Area Christian Food Pantry is one way and she is a champion and our special angel.

To date, Denise has an in-store record of over 70 boxes sold in one day! All associates work hard and compete to ensure that Hannaford-Camden meets or exceeds its store goal of 2,000 boxes. So far, with 1,991 sold as of 12/15/15 they are 120 boxes over this time last year and are well on the way to set a new record.

These boxes are picked up daily and distributed by The Camden Area Christian Food Pantry to serve the hungry in our 8 town service area - Camden, Rockport, Lincolnville, Hope, Appleton, Union, Searsmont and Washington. The Pantry and its clients thank Hannaford Supermarkets, Denise, and all of the Hannaford associates for helping to fight hunger in this special way that gives so many the opportunity to share through giving.

We have a wonderful opportunity to benefit the Camden Area Christian Food Pantry.  We are participating in a unique matching funds program that has the potential to help us reduce our deficit.  The Alan Shawn Feinstein $1 Million Dollar Giveaway to Fight Hunger provides matching funds to non-profit organizations who solicit donations between now and April 30.  The percent of matching will be determined by the amount of funds collected.  The more our organization receives in donations, the more we will receive from the Alan Feinstein Foundation.

To count toward matching funds, donations or a pledge of a future donation must be received by April 30.  Food donations also count toward this matching opportunity.  Monetary donations or pledges of future donations can be mailed to the address below.  Food donations can be dropped off at the Pantry between 8 am and 11 am Tuesdays and 4-6 pm Thursdays.  Non-perishables may be left in the food locker at the pantry door any time.

For more than ten years the Camden Area Christian Food Pantry has been providing food relief to families in Appleton, Camden, Hope, Lincolnville, Rockport, Searsmont, Union, and Washington.  For the past few years, donations have not kept up with rising costs while usage by our client families has increased.

Help us now  *by April 30*  to meet the needs of our community.  Thank you for your generosity.
