Hey look, I made some wallpapers!  (Finally…) And one of them is available to anyone, even those who aren’t Patrons!  I’m going to be making three a month to try and catch up on all the many months missed, and each month I’ll make one of them free to…

{Dunda dun da… Babum babum bababum bumbabumba bababumbaba bumbum} The music starts and red lights appear in darkness, angles slowly revealing flickering words, and my heart grows fluttery. This is my best description of an intro that I refuse to skip unless under duress. Because it gives me a sense of the ride I'm starting on, of a story that feels somehow both intimate and distant, both like childhood and like falling up into the stars...

Here it is! 8 months of work and 50,000 words later 😅 For reference, that's longer than The Great Gatsby.

I'm sorry and you're welcome.

A Little Bit of Subtypes - a look at aLBoP-exclusive cognitive subsets, plus more on Facial Typing!

Alright!  This is Justin again.  So we’re gonna try to keep this huge, ginormo, super in-depth topic really short here (edit: ha!), because this is just sort of a preview.  But we’re still pretty excited to get to talk about subtypes here on “Phase 1!”…

Five years today since I posted "Disney Typed: Hercules" and embarked on the first 5 years of A Little Bit of Personality. I can't tell you what those five years have meant to me.

Welcome to A Little Bit of Personality (aLBoP)! But what is personality?? Is it something that defines you, or something you can change? And what makes aLBoP different from other personality systems and sites?

Hi there!  After over a year of anticipation, we finally have a new intro video!  Huzzah!  If you’re new here, this should help you know what aLBoP is all about and what makes us different than other personality systems and sites.  And if you already know…

Focused on the 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 as it is and has been, the 𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗝 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗹 stands as the watchman at the gate of their World, ever vigilant against threats to the Principles they hold dear. Behind an often stoic exterior, the ISTJ Sentinel is passionate about 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 their world and culture, ever aware of the things that should not be forgotten, but which are ever in danger of being lost. With their last cognition step being character observation, they fear that the people they don’t understand will rip down the world they love. But, if they don’t acknowledge the parts of their world that need to change, they’ll end up upholding and protecting a status-quo that goes against their own, deeply held principles and hurting the very worth of the world they vowed to protect.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗟𝗕𝗼𝗣 𝗤𝘂𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆:
I want to really emphasize again that these are the definitions of the functions, and how they work for each of us. We just use them in different orders and matched up with different Types of Information, based on what our minds desire and love the most.

It might seem like a redundant point to hit, but it’s incredible how much stereotyping and type-bigotry sneaks in, when that one little point gets ignored. Not to mention that when definitions get forgotten, everything just gets way more complicated than it really is.

So don’t feel boxed in by systems or sources that use terms like “dom” or “dominant functions.” As we’ll discuss in the next few posts, the cognition process has a beautiful physics to it, full of elegant cause-and-effect and reasons behind each motion. In contrast, using jargon that you’ll see splattered across the Internet like “Fi dom” or “Ne dom,” implies that a person should be boiled down to just one function, and ends up entirely too subjective to have any sort of repeatability or science. While some people might prefer to narrowly label both others and themselves by a single box or trait, human beings are so much more gorgeously complex than that.

[From a Personalized Typing email to Mr. Darcy, of 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘫𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘦]
I could tell right away in your email that you are an IT, an Introverted Thinker, with your primary cognition based inside your own head (I) and your focus centered on the Use of people and information (T).

You prioritize looking inside yourself, aligning all the information you already have first and then turning and applying it to the outside world. Your best friend (who sounds like an ENFJ), does the opposite, watching others for information and input, which he then processes inside his head.

Now, I’m not saying you’re an Introvert because you, as you put it, "certainly have not the talent which some people possess, of conversing easily with those I have never seen before." While you may feel like a social Introvert, there are plenty of psychological Extraverts who feel that same way, myself included sometimes.

But you added, “I cannot catch their tone of conversation, or appear interested in their concerns, as I often see done." From your email I can tell that that’s not because you lack social skills (you did great talking to me and we’ve never met), but because you usually couldn’t care less about what most people talk about. You don’t see the use (T) of small talk, and being an IT simply magnifies that feeling for you. Honestly, I think any healthy type will dislike small talk if its purpose is to avoid thinking about more important things. It makes sense that you, as an IT, would be extra annoyed at small talk taking you away from the things you feel are more important, that could engage you in your mind.
