Canada's Economy

The aim of any country and in fact many homeowners is to have a strong economy. We want our country’s economy to be strong and we also, on a smaller scale want our personal one to be strong as well. If you aren’t one for numbers however, finding out that the country’s economy will have a 3% growth for the year doesn’t sound like much, but in fact, this puts us into ‘rarefied territory’ and (if it happens like the analysists predict) it would end a five year stretch of our economy being under 3% growth.

While economists are predicting that we will see an expansion in the second quarter Gross Domestic Product at the same percentage pace that we recorded in the first three months of the year, they also expect a second half slow down which will result in our 3% growth for the year.

The five years that we as a country have been under 3% growth is the longest on record, with records being kept as far back as 1926 so even though the growth rate seems small, it’s actually a good thing.

Royal Oak- Shopping, Schools, Restaurants and Recreation Centers

Sitting close to the northwest edge of the city of #Calgary is the community of Royal Oak. It was established as a community in its own right back in 1998 and is located close to the neighbourhood of Rocky Ridge. Royal Oak is an area filled with single family homes, townhouses and apartment buildings; it has its own schools, places of worship, shopping centers and restaurants and is a great place to raise a family.

The Real Estate Market in June

June marks the beginning of summer, the end of another school year and the half way point in the year. While it may be a bit of a shock to the system to realize that 2017 is already half over, those that crunch the numbers for the #Calgary real estate markets take this opportunity to compare the first half of the year with that of last year and make predictions as to the state of the markets going forward.

In #Airdrie for example, the total sales for the first half of the year were 703, and that is similar to last year. Total inventory of properties averaged 340 for January-June of 2017 which is also comparable to last year.

In Calgary for the first half of the year, 10,322 properties have changed hands, which is up 12% from the first half of 2016. New listings have grown 3% since January of this year, which only means that buyers have more choice when they are looking for that new place to call home.

Queensland Calgary- Shopping, Parks & Recreation

Welcome to Fairways in #Airdrie

If you’re looking for a quiet place to call home and enjoy big city life without the actual big city then may be just what you’re looking for. Wildlife and the City

“If you build it they will come” may have worked for Kevin Costner’s character in the movie Field of Dreams. He built a baseball diamond and all the greats of the game came to play. If you build it, however on the natural habitat of animals, with “it” being houses, condominiums, high rises, shopping centers, roads and sidewalks where do the animals go? Well, in increasing numbers, they are co-existing in our cities.

#Calgary wasn’t always the size it is now. Urban sprawl, new communities and the constant pushing of the city’s boundaries have made the city a massive one. It’s great for those looking for a new property in a trendy new area, but not so much for the animals that once made that area home. If we encroach on the animals’ land, they have no choice but to wander our streets looking for food and shelter.

April Pricing Remains Steady

What happens when the labour market improves? When there are more people working, improving job growth and people who feel more financially stable it has positive effects for the real estate markets, so it is no surprise that the April stats from the Calgary Real Estate Board bring good news to buyers and sellers alike. How Does Legalizing Marijuana Impact Real Estate Sales and Markets?

Colorado has done it and now #Canada has plans to make marijuana legal across the country. While it won’t all be figured out until next year, people are already wondering what this will mean in terms of their jobs, their health and the economy, and that includes the real estate market.

Marijuana has been shown to either cure or drastically decrease the symptoms of things like cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, multiple Sclerosis and ADHD. It helps to control nausea from chemotherapy, helps with nerve pain, seizure disorders, the effects of Crohn’s Disease and many other ailments. It works by enhancing a body’s natural chemical makeup and in turn making that body work more efficiently in fighting the disease and/or pain. That’s the medical way of looking at things of course and under current law, if you want to use it for medical purposes you need a license through Health Canada.

March Into Spring- Stats

Ever wonder what months account for the most activity on the #Calgary Real Estate Market? Be it the nicer weather or any of a number of other reasons, the middle half of the year—April through September--are the prime months to move and for a typical year, that means 60% of housing sales. This is good news if you are looking to get into the market, or have a home currently on the market as March, well, marched us into Spring and gave the city a balanced detached market for the first time in a long time.

With the first quarter of the year already in the books it seems the market is headed in the right direction. Sales were 10% lower than this time in 2016, but when compared to the average inventory of last year, something that went down in March 2017, we can start to see more price stability occurring in the detached home sector.
