I'm looking for a good starter tenor ukulele (I don't think I can sing along with a soprano as easily due to my lower vocal range) I am looking in the $100 range right now and hoping that's possible. Any advice?

All of the above advice is great, I'd like to throw into the mix that I generally recommend a concert size for beginners - they have a bigger sound and longer scale length than a soprano (more frets, access to higher notes), and in fact often a longer scale length than tenors, due to their larger frets.

One of the major differences between tenors and sopranos/concerts is that tenors have a wider spacing between the strings, which is perfect for finger picking but can be a bit rough on the hands when strumming if you're not used to it, so if strumming is what you're going for I'd definitely recommend a concert to get you started with. It's also worth noting that you can put a low G string on any size uke if you're so inclined and want that deeper resonance. I'd recommend from personal experience a Lanikai LU21 series uke as a good starter for a reasonable price, but I'd strongly recommend going down to your local music store and trying a few out if you can to get the feel of what works for you.

Good luck!

Nervous about the my first GM experience in over 10 years.  I also haven't sat down to play an RPG a couple years as well.  Anyone got some motivational sayings? Cool ideas? Anything? :)

I'm partially answering those questions myself, and partially going to start asking the players some pointed questions, as they haven't really given me much character history.  I'll get on them to give me something by next game.

Does anyone have any resources for background sounds for games? There's got to be standard tracks out there for crowds, mideival festivals, taverns, honkytonk bars, etc. I would love to use these as mood setting tracks when my party is at certain locations. If this doesn't exist, maybe I should make this type of resource....

Just listened to the 3rd episode of The Dice Steeple (with the same host as The Dice Tower podcast). Interesting stuff.  I know a few of you that might find it interesting, such as +Dan Repperger , +Joshua Demaree, +Grant Woodward , and I'm sure many more.

Thought I might get some suggestions here as well as the firefly community page.

I'm going to be starting an RPG game using the Serenity RPG book. As I began writing my stories major plot points, I realized that I should have a list of "tropes" or essential elements that set the mood of the setting. Obviously Chinese swear words are in order, what other items do you find are needed for a good firefly fan fiction?

Alright Jackers... I swear I remember hearing in the last 5 or so episodes that they were interested in setting up a Google Drive to share sample characters/npc's  from different systems.  Can you recall what episode it was in and if there has been any progress in this effort?  I am interested in it and I'm sure there has to be some interest.  I hope someone out there remembers, or I'll have to listen to the last 5-10 episodes again... and this time I'd probably have to be drinking more to get through them... and then I'll forget which episode it was in again.

I'm hoping some obscure games get some love as well. I'd love some Serenity RPG npcs...

It's still a western.  Treat it like a western.  You can always watch a few of the classics to get some ideas.

And there's some genre in there.  Westerns tend to have a lot of distance.  It's not just the tumbleweed scenes, it's the people as well.  They're also generally about the end of something.

Tropes that I've used in my own Serenity games:
- The stark contrast between the haves and have-nots with technology. Out on the rim, people take months to do things by hand that a core world machine could do in seconds.
- The carnage and after-effects of war. I had one story arc set in a bombed out city on Shadow.
- People with power are ruthless.
